brightness ET

(lambo) #1

How can i change the brightness in ET so it matches my brightness in windows.Every time I played ET I have to change the brightness in my windows again to my settings and it’s getting a bit irritating
Could someone help me with this?
Thanks

I have to do this aswell now. I think my monitor is soon to go bang in my face. I alter the settings on my monitor rather than in Windows though as it’s much faster
Plus, I’m sure there is an option in the ET menus for Brightness, or gamma. I know there’s a console command that someone has posted up here before, but I can’t remember what that was or where it is now, sorry :bored:

r_gamma

(BlackDeath) #4

or r_intensity

Note : r_intensity sucks. Use r_gamma. Why r_intensity sucks is beyond me, im just guessing.
Standard gamma is 1.3 try upping it to 1.7 or 2. Should clear up the problem

set r_gamma <n>
Higher values of n make your screen brighter. Default is 1.0, allowed values are from 0 to 3. I recommend making your screen brighter because it lets you see targets more easily. Be careful you don’t set it too high, otherwise levels like fueldump or radar with lots of snow will be way too bright.
Ex: set r_gamma 2.2

set r_intensity <n>
Higher values of n make your screen brighter. Default is 1.0, allowed values are from 0 to 1.5
Ex: set r_intensity 1.2
*From the Velocity’s Strategy Guide

Looks like they do about the same thing to me, r_intensity has always worked for me…

don’t set r_gamma below 1 or punkbuster will kick ya on most servers

(squadjot) #8

r_ignoreHWgamma 1

this will prevent windows to be “over”-bright when u are running windowed mode…

(Vaibhav) #9

dont set r_gamma above 2 either or punkbuster will kick u

I have already justed the r_gamma and even placed the number up to 3! Nothing seems to work and I still have to change my brightness of my windows  , maybe the insensity works, I’ll give it a try
Thanks
