Played fine in both of the leagues i play in.

He stated he was having some problems with the lighting, and only went ahead with a new release because of some leagues pressing for a new version for use in league play. The lighting problems you mentioned have no impact on the gameplay (from a competative standpoint).

Pretty much what Proph said…

In actual effect there are only 2 spawn exits, it’s just that one splits - as someone said on Crossfire, compare that to the final axis spawns on radar, goldrush, etc, it actually isn’t that many.

Personally I would rather Braundorf wasn’t won or lost depending on whether you can spawncamp the defending team or not.

Most people (amongst those who like Braundorf) have welcomed the change, and I’m not going to be changing it back in a hurry.

Now for the embarrassing admission - those black shadows and odd light leaks appear to have been down to my GFX drivers, I’ve just updated to the latest nVidia ones and I don’t see any problems at all. I should have thought of that…

I actually noticed in a recent frag movie I downloaded that other people get these black shadows, not just on Braundorf, but even on oasis and goldrush…

As winning a map in a competitive game is about opening a timewindow for your eng to do his work, spawncamping usually is the tool for that: Kill all spawning players and you have 30 more secs in which you won’t be that disturbed, also they won’t get back into defense positions then. That s why spawncamping and -killing is used that much.

But I don’t think your 2nd exit makes that much of a tactical difference because it unites with the other path from spawn to the controls. If you hold and camp the area around the wire cage Axis is still blocked.
Also the 2nd exit doesnt offer any shortening of the distance to the controls either.
And if the defenders get spawncamped already, the game is almost over anyways too, so…

Braundorf B4 is here.

It’s only B3 with a tracemap (D’Oh!!! again), so I never really bothered to “announce” it as such.

The next version will be a “final”, just some tidying up of the appearance and hopefully getting a decent command map (I don’t know if Schaffer is still willing to do it, or if he’s moved on to bigger and better things).

I might even fix that annoying victory message bug…

Heya Brevik,

Firstly, I’d like to congratulate you on a nice map. I thought I’d let you know that in Australia, the ET GameArena ladder has been using your map. The ladder involves 50+ teams, and we introduced b2 into season five (Sep onwards '05), where it also featured in the finals series. Season six started in mid-Jan, and we’ve included braundorf_b4. Overall, it’s had positive feedback.

Any chance of this happening? … would be shame such a great map not going to final especially since it’s so close to being finished.
GameArena use a mapscript which fixes an endgame bug.

Argh, yep it needs a final version, and you’re not the first person to ask for it, I keep trying and other stuff comes up - currently the wife has me doing DIY and decorating. :oops:
