Blood splatter bug?

I’ve got this in my config:

seta cg_showblood "1"
seta cg_bloodFlash "0"

When I start ET, blood flash and blood splatter are both set to None in the prefs window, which is how I want it. As soon as I join a server - ANY server, including my private server and a game hosted through my very own ET client - my blood splatter setting goes to Full and I have to manually turn it off.

I’ve searched around but didn’t find any threads dealing with this … anyone have a workaround/fix?

Hrms… stray configs? Just shove a config say blood.cfg with those settings how you want it and bang into an autoexec.cfg:

exec blood.cfg

Thisll just load the blood settings automatically when you join a server, create a game… anything that would use a base config.

I found the problem… it looks like ET does not save the cg_bloodDamageBlend var when it is set through the in-game menu, for some odd reason. Anyways, putting

seta cg_showblood "1"
seta cg_bloodFlash "0"
seta cg_bloodDamageBlend "0"

in autoexec.cfg did the trick. However, if cg_bloodDamageBlend does not appear in etconfig.cfg, the autoexec doesn’t work for me. Once cg_bloodDamageBlend is listed in etconfig, everything works fine, even if the value in etconfig is 1. Strange flakiness indeed… probably easily fixed by resetting my messy config scripts, but I’ve finally got all my configs tweaked perfectly and I don’t feel like rebuilding them.

seta is broken in ET for some strange reason, in that if the cvar doesn’t already exist seta won’t add it, as was the case in RTCW. I thought bloodDamageBlend was available on the menu however, but then I set everything through configs so I’m probably wrong. :frowning:
