I have a big problem with Battersea and it’s the container piles around the 2nd objective. Right now they look horribly wrong as the arrangement seems physically impossible and makes no sense from a backstory point of view (who would have setup these containers that way and why?). At the moment it looks as if a couple of giants have been playing Jenga with these containers, pulling one out here, pushing one in there…
This is not Brink’s Container City where things were thrown together and held with twine and luck, this appears to be an installation under CDA control (or which was until recently) and so should be somewhat organized.
My first though was to suggest cutouts in the container walls, ripped out doors, etc. to make man-made passages inside those container piles, but that suggests (again from a backstory point of view) that someone went to a lot of efforts to build paths inside these container piles for no obvious reason. So my second though was why not replace some of these containers with flat racks? These are basically wall-less containers used for items that are over-sized or need to be lifted from the top.

By throwing empty flat racks in strategic places and varying their sizes (like standard containers, these come in 20’ and 40’ long versions), it should be possible to recreate paths very similar to those we currently have without pulling pieces out of alignment. Throw in more empty racks and some with pieces of heavy gear lashed on them elsewhere in the piles and it would look a lot more natural.
