Who’s up for some Battersea tonight. 8 till late.
BLOCKOUT WEDNESDAYS: Canary Wharf, Battersea and 'Map 6'
Hi all,
Every Wednesday evening we’ll be opening up the VIP Test servers to everyone in the Alpha with the aim of getting more feedback on the latest in-development map, Canary Wharf.
Both VIP Test servers will be open from roughly 5pm (UTC) until Thursday mornings. If you do give the map a go, please try and leave feedback along these lines:

Battersea Plant
PS. The servers are currently open 24/7 due to a password bug, but we’d still like focussed play on these levels.
I’m up for map testing tonite since I can’t help the current patch anymore from my side anyways.
CW is unplayable now due to all classes being able to do objectives,map6 feels like a tdm map and battersea map has huge kill zones that give the defenders a big advantage
CW, yeah, we haven’t made it today through the 1st objective even once.
Battersea - yeah, too open and is a sniper and camper heaven - there’s no need to go anywhere - just seat somewhere far away on a ledge and shoot people from there.
Map 6 - I dislike it as now - just a dumb deathmatch meatgrinder, better go play same thing in TF2 but better.
Great turnout tonight people.
currently both servers are full.
i dropped due to continuous gunfire then couldnt get back in. haha
battersea is playing well.
map 6 is fun.
proper report tomorrow.
now to see if i can get back in.
I liked Battersea after an initial play through, though it was with small teams. I can imagine it being a bit chaotic with a full server but with some tweaks it should make for a great map, really like the idea behind it.
Some good fun on the blockout maps tonight.
CW: the final area is slightly better but still a bit of a mess. The second set of objectives I still really don’t like or understand what we are actually doing. First area is the best part, really enjoy this bit, especially like the lift route that allows you to plant on the roof of the building.
Map 6: very TDM, but I like the verticality with the low and high routes - especially like the constructable forklift that opens the path onto the roof for the attackers. Problem with this map though is that everybody is spread very thin trying to take both capture points, and after 15 minutes of taking and losing the same point it does get a little annoying (so then you just TDM instead).
Battersea: right, I have played this map 4 times now and I still have literally no idea what I am doing on attack or defense!? The first part I quite like although you can spawn frag quite a bit here. The next stage with the moving red things is awesome, really nice layout with the space in the middle and routes around the edges.
CW: not sure what has been changed honestly. the 3 times ive played it has been either a stomp by attackers or a full hold. still fully enjoy the map though
Map 6: van gets bugged so accessing the back route doesn’t work too often. The obj are just silly. defenders spawn 2-3 seconds from A and im assuming we have to cap both? really can;t even tell because there’s almost no way to hold both with a full server
Battersea: no idea what or why this setup seems ok to map devs. blowing the wall for attackers is pretty easy, and almost impossible to defuse. Defenders only have ladders to access it. the last phase is just plain terrible overall. it either turns into spawn camping, or attackers cant get near it because of spam and crossfire, not to mention that nobody can really figure out what the obj is
I still like CW. Haven’t had enough time on the other maps. My run through today was very brief as my team steamrolled the competition.
First impression on map 6 is poor. The objectives are very close and the time allotted for the attacking team seemed very very long. I just can not see the map being fun with a full server but I guess some people really may like it. As a not so serious map it is probably a good one to include. Some people really love maps like these small maps.
The other map had a camp spot far above attacker spawn. Dunno why but it’s there and probably should be removed. I also had no clue what capturing that first point was supposed to accomplish. And I didn’t like that the first chokepoint covers the only exit from attacker spawn. I will definitely need more time on the map before giving more feedback.
cw: no idea what i’m doing. fun areas to fight in at the beginning and middle (?) part, but i don’t like the part where i’m spawning at the bottom of a well.
can’t really comment on battersea or map6.

You say that like it’s finished, it’s still a block-out, we just wanted to give you folks chance to play it and give feedback
Just scrap CW please. All classss doing all objectives will make this map pointless and unplayable.
Sad to say this game is going to turn out terrible if the classes aren’t brought back. I really do want this game to succeed but it’s just not going to happen unless these changes are reverted, which I don’t see happening.
Such a shame I wanted a good classic fps but you guys just don’t know how to create that anymore for everyone to enjoy :(.
I like already the fact that’s it has bigger and more opened battle areas
Had a quick play (3v3) last night before everyone disappeared
CW - didn’t get to play this time round
Map 6 (aka BF ;)) Not enough players to control both points but some good fights around each one, very TDM-ish - seems more like a test than an actual objective map?
Battersea - again not many players when I’ve played this but it was hard for attack to break through due to sniping. The container dropdown is cool but you are cannon fodder trying to get through it. The other ladder route also leaves you very vulnerable. Def again spawn right next to the disarm so even with the forward spawn you were screwed. Def can raise the container again, leaving you with the ladder route only which will get you killed quick :). Nice to see some ladders in there though. We basically just got spawncamped.
One time attack did get the door but the 2nd objective was impossible to break, too easy for def to turtle up there, when they did get cleared out they just respawned right next to us again and took it back.
Battersea:
Overall good map imo. It does take a nice change from one place to the next one. only the first objective if you run up on the left side can be really hard when enemy is already camping there and shooting down your way. I think this can be a great fragfest. The second part of the map is better imo (move around the cranes to have close/open ways, rly nice :D)
Map 6: Really like it a lot. Its confusing you dont really know at which point you have won or lost. I like the “square” shape of this map, you are fast in one section. For attack is harder to def the captured points, maybe a little more possibilities to cover? (the helicopter one and the neighbour point in the hall)
But its really hard to say from playing it so little. Such dynamic objectives as the moving van pls more
Battersea
Which part of the map/objective you like most and why?
fighting over the plinth.
i think a hack would work better though. but i need a lot more tries.
as i havent defended yet with a 8 player team.
Which part of the map/objective you dislike most and why?
cant think of any. was all good fun
Do you find any particular part of the map useless?
dont know it well enough.
Which route/position do you find the most useful when attacking/defending particular objectives?
i look for the target on the hud and head for it.
What tactics (if any) do you employ when trying to complete/defend particular objectives?
sniping so much fun.
overall lots of great interesting areas to fight over. could do with more objs.
Map 6
Which part of the map/objective you like most and why?
indoor and backstreets fighting just feels right. didnt fight near chopper much.
Which part of the map/objective you dislike most and why?
none. again was lots of fun
Do you find any particular part of the map useless?
if this was a domination mode and both sites start as neutral and far apart thats the level there.
but as an obj map they should be c4 targets maybe only 1 needed.
but capping is meh unless its in a dom map specifically made with tweaks.
Which route/position do you find the most useful when attacking/defending particular objectives?
all were good
What tactics (if any) do you employ when trying to complete/defend particular objectives?
not enough testing.
Canary Wharf
Which part of the map/objective you like most and why?
1st oj feels a lot better now and i have to say its the classless obj play.
no waiting for a soldier to blow all 3 points (thatll never happen)
the game moves on quickly and lots of action.
Which part of the map/objective you dislike most and why?
delivering - its plain boring. position is everything.
Do you find any particular part of the map useless?
the train.
Which route/position do you find the most useful when attacking/defending particular objectives?
attacking - train tunnel. defending - sit on 1st obj roof.
What tactics (if any) do you employ when trying to complete/defend particular objectives?
see above no other stand outs.
comparing CW to battersea and map 6. the difference is the amount
of interesting and fun spaces. CW feels restrictive compared to the others.
