Big problem and i need all your folks help to solve this one

Okay mostly i can solve all the problems that comes along with computers my self… but this problem has no logic and makes no sence at all so i need your help.

The thing is i cant see any servers in Enemy territory ingame browser it dont wanna list any servers at all… and if i use all seeing eye to connect to a server ET starts and it says connecting… and counting up but nothing connects it just stays there the game does not freeze it just counts and nothing more… first i thought it might be something wrong with my router or something so i tried to open ALL the ports to the pc so its not that… i have no clue whats the problem is i have no software firewall or anything i am behind a d-link router but i open all the ports so that should not be a problem either… the problem does not make any sence anyone that have any suggestions i have re-installed it TWICE… so i dont know whats wrong… well Anyone know the solution? or have any suggestions i am open for evertyhing

and i have punkbuster enabled and downloaded the thing that updates punkbuster manually.

my isp does not block any ports and i can play other multiplayer games over the net.

when i pull down the console it seems that it cant have any connection with the master server to resolve any games for the ingame browser i dont understand this weird problem, it buggs the hell out of me… :slight_smile:

and it has never worked. this happend just after the install

Have you tried connecting with the ET version of pathfinder ?

Now I’m not saying you’re a dope or anything here matey but in ET when you go to “play online” on the top left where all the filters are does it say “source :internet” ?

tested it and i got the same problem that i get with the all seeing eye… it just says connecting… and awaiting connection and it counts up… and when i bring down the console now it says something about empy cd key… guid and requesting master server and some numbers that could be a cd key maybe comes up every second but it deletes some file… what to do ? i have no idea… anyone ??

how the hell can it be the router when i have open all the ports (dmz) de militrised zone… so every port is open on this pc… it should not matter what router you have… this is a very weird problem :slight_smile: but i have a dlink 804… and it is a popular one… i will see if i can update the firmware or something maybe that will help

Phew thank god for that, FstFngrz might be the fella with the answer here, as judging from that thread he’s directed you to he’s a clever bastard in the making (at least) :drink: . He might be the fixer man.

Or not judging from that last post. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Right when did all this start, Have you

(i) ever been able to see a server list in ET and
(ii) if so able to connect and
(iii) if that is the case what has changed since ?

Never been able to see any servers in the ingame browser the problem started direct after the installation… never have been able to connect to a server… that just all i am in the EXACT same situation like the other guy… going to update the firmware on the router maybe it helps…

Didnot work either when i updated the firmware for the router… now i just sit and wait to splashdamage fix it in a patch…

Never played it multiplayer :slight_smile:

can you connect you PC directly to your modem ? have you tried that?

i have not tried to connect it directly to the pc… i cant do that either cause i have 3 pc’s + a linux server so i cant just rederict the cable everytime i wanna play the game :slight_smile: have to find a solution for the problem with the router…

I meant as a test, best way to see if your router is the problem.

Try connecting directly to see if that resolves it, and let us know.

I bought a DLink 604 2 weeks ago, and it works w/ ET fine.

Process of elimination, he’s right you know get rid of as many potetial problems as possible as this may pinpoint the problem.

They are right. If you dont connect your pc directly to the internet you will never know whether its the router or not, so you dont know where to look for the problem!

If you cannot connect it directly at any case then you must try to find people who have the same router like you and do play ET so you know its not the router.

In my opinion , the problem is a certain incompatiblity between your router and ET, so its a BUG in Enemys Territory.

As a Software-Developer myself, I know the problem with Hardware not meeting the standart specifications.

D-Link is on one hand very innovative, creating - for an example - the 22+ Wireless-Lan Cards, APs and Routers. On the other hand, there is no standart for Wireless 22+…
Now they say it’s 100% compatible to the 11+ standart … but to achive 22+ you have somehow to get around the specifications of 11+ and therefore you loose the 100% 11+ compatibility.

I think it’s not the Software-Developer to blame, if the Hardware does not meet the standart. They can’t correct all the glitches of “innovative” Hardware-Developers. For the rest of the worlds sake, they have to stick to the standarts. :slight_smile:

So in my case, I had to get rid of my D-Link WLAN network components, because they did not run together with my existing standart 11+ WLAN components (Netgear, Planet and other, which all run well together)
And I will get a 10 2nd opinions, before I buy D-Link Components again.

I dont know if this will work for you, but it happened to me. I couldnt connect either wouldnt show server listing. So what i did was i turned off Zone Alarm, because the game is in full screen it wont allow you the oppertunity to give ET access to your web connection…

do you have zone alarm installed? if so i suspec tyou ahve it disabled… which would be a logical thing if your trying to get stuf to work through ports. but no zonealarm doesnt work logically. you must enable zone alarm then start up et so it gives access to the port. (when disabled it blocka all unknow apps). as for yuor pb guid prob go to www.evenbalance.com adn look for pb_sv_regguidkey or somethin like that … this commadn issues you with a new guid.
ps connecting direct is a very good way of taking your router outa the equation.
