Beta yet?

(signofzeta) #1

I might have been living under a rock, but is the game officially in beta stage? or is it still alpha. If it is still alpha, I will say ARRRGGGGGH and will become bald in the next few minutes (I don’t have access to scissors or a shaver and have my bare hands to make me bald right now).

If so, how long was it in beta?

(Gringo) #2

23 years, 154 days, 5 hours, 13mins and 53 secs!

So to answer ur question I dont know! Please be aware it is very difficult to get any sense out of the dev’s tho i not one to talk dot

edit: thanks shaderman

Gringo, there’s a dot missing at the end of your last sentence :stuck_out_tongue:

I asked that question once myself, and do u know what the answer was?.. “Don’t ask…”

We’re really pleased that we’re finally nearing beta as a large proportion of the maps are proving great fun to play. Our team of Production Testers at Splash Damage are playtesting ETQW full-time, helping fine-tune things like optimal cover points, concealment and fortification. My development staff and I join them for a playtest every day at 5.00pm; that playtest has really become the highlight of the day for me.

jammy bastards

Not in beta yet? I’m officially bald now and now I know it will take Duke Nukem Forever for ETQW to come out.

So I can see that the game started development in 2003, announced in march 2006?

I don’t know when the alpha stage started, but let us assume July 2006. Let’s assume beta starts in february. Let’s also assume beta stage takes half the time of alpha stage. Then the game will be nearly done in april. I hope my assumptions are correct and the game isn’t the next duke nukem forever.

For most games, usually how long are the beta stages? If the beta stage takes as long as the alpha stage, then I don’t think the game will ever come out.

If you read the CGOnline interview, you’ll see this…

We’re really pleased that we’re finally nearing beta

why do you care for attaching words like alpha or beta to the game? those are just words with different meaning from company to company, person to person. e. g. what EA considers final, i consider alpha. however, EA has a good marketing company and knows how to even sell those alphas. quake wars on the other hand will come out when it’s ready to come out. there’s no reason for us users to know if it’s in an alpha or beta or final state as long as we can’t put our hands on it

Well that’s the problem there, we can’t put our hands on it, and have the game good at the same time.

1st wait is the next bit of news
2nd wait is the official final weapons and maps
3rd wait is the announcement of the official release date
4th wait is the game’s release.

The 3rd one is the one I’m waiting for. If I know the release date, I can then chillax.

Even if the date is completely wrong, I still have a date to strive for.

For a date called “When it’s done”, it leaves me thinking, it might come out tomorrow, or next month, or next year, or till the end of time. Oh the possibilities.

I hear that there is an official date called “When it’s done” and tomorrow is that date. SD better hurry it up. Not only will we be able to get our hands on ETQW, we can also get our hands on Duke Nukem Forever. (lol i made a funny, maybe it was a bad joke I don’t know)

dude no offense, but tbh your many dnf/sc ghost comparisons start to get annoying now. at least for me

Don’t keep on playing a panic troll. Relax!

And I tend to think of naming conventions as this: (also used for the better map releases)

  • alpha is when you’re building it
  • going to beta is when everything is added like you wanted it
  • beta itself is testing all of it and checking if everything works like you wanted it
  • omega is when it beats a few other games out of the market

Why cant everyone just play ET and patiently wait till QW comes out? Why? why? oh science why?

I am!

looks like the quote button now works on explorer, good work

(GlobalWar) #15

Announced 16 May 2005! You ARE living under a rock

For the record I am waiting since that day for this game to be released so quit the whining you are not waiting long enough

Trolls live under the bridges, not under the rocks AFAIK.

Bugs live under rocks! Trolls live in caves!

Yes I’m a troll. In fuel dump, I camp near/under the bridge and plant dynamite, even when there is no bridge.

is it ready yet?
