Best keyboard for gaming?

(Cerebrate) #1

What do you think is the best keyboard for fps gaming? I suppose it’s not nearly as important as a good mouse, but it still matters.

Logitech something?

I suggest this one:

:moo:

Shit, that is SO me!

(mendicant) #4

well im using the logitech internet keyboard and its fine for me

BUT dont use the cheap logitech keyboard as it wont allow u to use too many keys together(i.e. u cant press shift and run diagonal(w+a))

at the end of the day its all about whats the most comfortable for u

I have an old DELL keyboard. Made for eternity. I think they carved it out of a solid block of plastic.

Original IBM PS/2 Keyboard, the best keyboard ever made, unfortunately only available used, for example on ebay.

Unicomp purchased the buckling spring technology from Lexmark (which is an IBM subsidiary, and they used to be responsible for making those keyboards.) Unicomp now makes and sells them (and even have a 104-key model if you like the Windows keys), although they’re not cheap—49 USD for the 101-key model, 59 USD for the 104-key model. Those prices aren’t terribly unreasonable, though, when you consider that one of those keyboards might very well outlive you. :stuck_out_tongue:

[07/19/2004 02:13:14pm] <LordHavoc> <MC|Waldorf> hah.. the IBM cast-iron keybaord [07/19/2004 02:13:15pm] <LordHavoc> <Xanthio> Damn fucking straight [07/19/2004 02:13:15pm] <LordHavoc> <MC|Waldorf> alas, they don’t make them like that anymore :-/
[07/19/2004 02:13:15pm] <LordHavoc> <Xanthio> I assure you that has SUFFERED
[07/19/2004 02:13:16pm] <LordHavoc> <Xanthio> notice the little chip missing in the bottom right corner?
[07/19/2004 02:13:18pm] <LordHavoc> <Xanthio> That is the most recent thing to happen to it a year and a half ago, or so
[07/19/2004 02:13:22pm] <LordHavoc> <Xanthio> Doesn’t look like much does it?
[07/19/2004 02:13:24pm] <LordHavoc> <Xanthio> In a rage I picked up the keyboard, stood up, and swung it over my head and smashed it onto the desk
[07/19/2004 02:13:29pm] <LordHavoc> <Xanthio> THE DESK BROKE
[07/19/2004 02:13:31pm] <LordHavoc> <Xanthio> That’s all that happened to the keyboard
[07/19/2004 02:15:10pm] <LordHavoc> <Xanthio> Oh and Waldorf … they don’t, but someone does - http://www.pckeyboard.com/customizer.html
[07/19/2004 02:16:16pm] <LordHavoc> <Xanthio> Also the keyboard has had mountain dew and iced tea spilled in it, which was remedied by filling it with water in the shower and dumping it out repeatedly then setting it in front of a fan to dry. I’ve since taken it appart and cleaned it many times over the years to maintain it, since this thing is like, better than GOLD

i bought some cheapo buckling spring keyboard from some no-name. it lasted about 6 years of intense abuse. great keyboard, but that tiny tiny bit slower to press keys and my fingers started to hurt quicker.

Thanks, this is good news. It’s good that those high-quality keyboards are produced again ! I think the price is justified: Those keyboards are heavy, and above all almost unbreakable and very precise. Another good thing: The 101-key model doesn’t have those annoying windows-keys. There’s nothing more anoying than searching for the ALT or CTRL-key, and ending on one of the windows keys.

I purchased one of these Unicomp keyboards a couple of years ago and I’m very happy with it. It seems every bit as durable as a genuine IBM model 40.

I bought the one with the Left Ctrl and Caps Lock keys switched and ~ and ESC keys switched. If you hit Ctrl sequences a lot, it really saves the wrists.
