Being skilled but having a bad team feels unrewarding

(extraordinaryEmperor) #1

Maybe they should buff the guns accuracy and damage a bit. It feels really unrewarding when you have a bad team and you’re able to get a kill or two but cannot do anymore because people then either, out-health you, or you need to reload, or you’re just completely out of ammo. As of now, I’m feeling less and less incentive to play, along with the mindless explosion spams by nader and fletcher at times.

(MvMArcher) #2

How would buffing damage and accuracy help (the enemy will still kill you)?
How does this thread have anything to do with bad teammates?

If you need to reload or you’re out of ammo, then run away from the fight.

(K1X455) #3

I totally feel that way as well, but buffing guns isn’t the way to go. It’s getting caught in the crossfire while your other team mates are just waiting in the corner to pick off where you came short that’s an issue. I once joined a badly performing team of sub level 10s and worked my way up until I was 2nd or 3rd in score, then I noticed I’m the only guy pushing the objective and asked them if they expect me to carry them to victory. Three answered YES, and I promptly left.

I’ve been playing long enough to realize that a pub’s team cohesion can be determined in under 3 minutes of play. This is one of the more valid reasons why rage quitting is justified.

Pubs become literal nightmares to play in if you care about winning, because 9 times out of 10 the potatoes you’re leading to victory can’t even follow you, and instead sit on turrets away from the fight expecting kills (while attacking).

And comp is filled with aimbotters.

I find it kinda ridiculous that people rage and get mad on public servers because of “stupid” or “noob” team mates.
Unfortunately stupid people exists and there’s nothing what we could do for it, so nobody can help that those people also join in the same server with you and “ruin your mood.”
Though at the same time it’s good to realize that everybody aren’t at your level and have your skills, so banging your head to the wall because of random players might not be the best idea to do.
Public matches are filled with different kind of players and you should not expect anything else. You have a chance to get different kind of team mates to play with you. Some are clever and unfortunately some are as useful as potatoes. Do you allow potatoes ruin your day?
Also we should not forget that those potatoes are in every online game, unfortunately they are not hiding under rocks.

When I want to experience a bit more messy match with different kind of players, I go to have some fun in public servers.
If I want to play a bit more coordinated game, I get my friends with me and go to have some fun in competitive matches or challenge another team for scrims.
And what comes about cheater issues, those filthy players are also playing in public matches, they are not sticking only in competitive matches.
I play competitive matches almost every day and I have to say that I’m not meeting cheaters that often. Of course I see these people there that are accusing everything that is moving for cheating, but I can’t help it. Some people just can’t understand that more skilled players actually exists. If somebody is better than you does not mean that the better player is instantly cheating.
(And before someone get me wrong, I want to mention that now I’m talking about this case from my general view, I’m not pointing this to anyone in the thread. I’m not saying that people in this thread can’t see a difference between a cheater and good player.)
However I also support the idea of being able to rent own server. Then actually bookmarking servers option would turn to be handy and those players who are having higher skill level probably would prefer those servers that have a reputation of “high skilled servers.”
Having this possibility would give a chance for high skilled players to have some people to play with, who actually share similar experience level and they know what they are doing.

That…or without friendly fire I’ve seen often enough they will let you take hits and run in front of you blocking your fire and they take the kill.

No consideration for team mates, the game, or the objectives as long as they get kills! >.<

@extraordinaryEmperor

Actually I do get the feeling as expressed in the title, but I’d rather see a global nerf on the weapons. Add recoil and spread so that newbies don’t get their easy kill, while people with skill can overcome those two features and reap the reward.

(N8o) #9

Trying to carry in an 8v8 with bad players on your team and half-conscious people on the other is disaster. Don’t expect to be able to carry unless you’re really good.

Also, none of those suggestions you make impact having a bad team? They are you just being a situation-unaware person.

(watsyurdeal) #10

For me, it’s not so much that it’s unrewarding, it’s that I can’t believe people find this game THAT hard to understand.

Aiming and raw skill sure, but to simply understand every merc’s job and role, like wtf???

Oh, I’m Skyhammer, I throw ammo down, ok. Oh I’m Aura, I revive and give people a place to come heal up, got it. I’m Proxy, OH she repair the EV faster than everyone else and Plant bombs really quick, that makes sense!

Like seriously, by level 7 these people should have some basic understanding of this stuff. It’s not complicated at all.

(INF3RN0) #11

Depending on the general skill difference, if you are really high skilled you will almost always be able to carry solo (unless they are stacking skill crutch mercs like rhino). Otherwise I suggest trying some DBN pugs where team balance is manually enforced @ TS.DBN.GG

(Litego) #12

Play 6v6, pretty easy to carry most of the time. Also a lot less explosive spam.

(Demolama) #13

Carrying gets exhausting

(Kirel) #14

Ayyy that self-promotion tho

(MarsRover) #15

No no no, you got it all wrong. I’m Aura/Proxy, so I’m faster that everyone else, which means I must always get everywhere first (because depressing shift for a moment is lame, right?). This includes the spawn queue for the next wave…

I don’t mind playing with less skilled people. I’m not really a pro myself. What irks me the most is the lack of basic map knowledge and common sense. Like when defending on Bridge your team decides to hold at all costs the building ACROSS from the generator room  And it seems like everyone <lvl20 thinks the best place for C4 on the second stage of underground is in the middle, hidden behind the console. And not pushing the EV, and a few other things, but that’s enough ranting for now.

(Enzo) #16

On the Asian server was running a test the other day once my friend got on. I would get a high K/D score. Next game it would put me with a team of very low lvl ranks and when you see the roaster you know 101% you’re going to lose.

So every match it kept doing it to me and him because we both would take turns getting high scores. At last me and him would always switch teams and not once did we lose a match. Of course the brain dead zombies would vote shuffle but I just laugh at that poorly implemented system because it never once worked.

Every game it would ask me to carry I just played TDM while I told my friend to spawn camp my team. My team on the hand was asking me why I wasn’t performing as usual I told them my friend is on the other side and I’ve decided no more carrying.

So finally after about 15 or more games we had an awesome day screwed countless people and met so many rage quitters. I know this is a dick move but hey as I told you Splash Damage don’t mess with me with your half baked matchmaking.

So in conclusion the game’s matchmaking for me is working fine now that I’ve found a way to circumvent it and have loads of fun. I’ve also downloaded Dying Light so I do not experience burnout.

Thank you for the new matchmaking. Truly is magnificent I’m not being sarcastic seriously. I hope it doesn’t change now that me and my friend know how to abuse it HAHAHAHA…

To those who felt butt hurt please learn the basics and for sho i’ll pull my weight and carry but if you think I’m going to carry you just so you can sit behind and get kills or pick 3 snipers in the game like you did in a few matches and my friend spawned raped every 1 of you while we laughed on Skype. Thank you and please continue.

Buffing damage and accuracy means that you can more easily get a spree of kills. After spraying for a bit you’re gun is too in accurate to land headshots properly anymore. More damage means you lose less ammo per kill meaning you’re less likely to run out of ammo mid-fight. This will separate bad players and good players, otherwise it’s just a match of who has more HP at the moment.

Bad teammates means you’re not going to have someone reliable to help you with fights or help you revive, etc.

Some times, you can’t run away when you need to reload, I’ve shot numerous people who’ve taken out their knives to run away and just easily shot their backs.

Take CS for example. When it’s 1v5, it’s quite possible to clutch, but in dirty bomb, very unlikely because just 2 of them will most likely tank most of your bullets, even with hs.

(extraordinaryEmperor) #18

I don’t know whether people agree of disagree with me, judging by the comments and votes, but I think dirty bomb has given me a good run, I’m just going to stop this increasingly frustrating game.

If you’re offended by virtual “disagrees”, then maybe you should take a break from the internet.

Not offended by disagrees, but I’m sure the developers cater to the majority of the community. And if the community enjoys the current playstyle, then I don’t want to be part of it.
