Beginner Users guide to Wolfenstein as of 10/25/10

This game is really overwelming, with all the mods, and I’m running this game on a Windows 7 which isn’t in the Speculations… so is my computer to far advanced, or can I still run it? Besides… I kinda need help getting into a game… everytime I join a game the host migration fails… any suggestions? Am I missing a patch?

Thanks.

not sure what you mean with host migration.

Anyway the game runs fine for me on windows 7 and sli and i7 so I doubt you’re pc is ‘too advanced’

As for installing, get the main game (the installer is 257mb if I remember correctly), then install then 2.60 patch.
Once that is installed install the 2.60b patch (latest version)

The main installer and the 2.60 patch are simple .exe files. The 2.60b is a zip, you need to copy the files ET.exe and ETDED.exe to your installation path, which will overwrite the ones placed by the 2.60 patch.

You can’t update straight from 2.55 (original game) to 2.60b or you will get kicked when you try to play online.

PB is kind of a mess atm, but one thing you should try and do is get an etkey.
Once you’ve started up the game you can achieve this by typing /pb_cdkeyreg in the console.
This should send a request for an etkey.

See how far that get’s you.
As for where you can get those files www.wolfmap.de is a good source.

Thanks a lot, downloading now.

The error I get is mp_u86_ or some error like that, if I do get that error after all this I’ll post it.

you can also get a fully patched W:ET 2.60b install here
http://ftp.freenet.de/pub/4players/hosted/et/Nail/et-2.60b-win32.exe

Thanks Nail. I’ll get that later because all that patch downloading still didn’t help… XD

I get the message

ET 2.60 win-x86 Mar 10 2005
----- FS_Startup -----
Current search path:
C:\Users\own\AppData\Local\Temp\Rar$DR01.559\Enemy Territory 2.60b\win32/etmain

0 files in pk3 files
----- CL_Shutdown -----

Couldn’t load default.cfg - I am missing essential files - verify your installation?

when trying replace the ET.exe and ETDED.exe from the win32 folder to Wolfenstein- Enemy Territory.
I am using Windows.

P.S. feel free to report feedback. I just went through the whole installation process again, so it should work. But if something is wrong, i’d like to know, so that i can correct it

Orly? I searched the forums under plenty of keywords,
and I also googled all this before posting. Came up with nothing solid,
only bits and pieces of info from 2007 mainly, not much for a new user.

/sigh

Your solution is right click on the ET icon that you use to start the game.
Go to properties.
Click on RUN AS ADMIN
Click on the checkmark that says ALWAYS RUN AS ADMIN
Click Apply
Click Ok.

Now try it.
