Be More Objective, VIDEO Play-through (Level 20 Character) 2-star and 3-star.

nice vid.

2 things i notice from the vid that would aid the easier completion.
Use the ‘sense of perspective’ perk, so you’re ready to engage targets approaching on the repair and destroy objectives.
And No2… Use lean/peek more. Those crates are good cover, but leaning makes them GREAT cover.

I don’t see the AI being anymore difficult vs. lower levels. I was maybe level 4 or so when I completed these challenges and the bots were ok but not ridiculous. They don’t seem to be rushing you or doing anything to make your life hard here. Also you found some shortcuts so you could largely avoid the bots, I think doing that would be pretty much a cakewalk.

(.FROST.) #83

Sorry, but I totally disagree with you. I tried it maybe 3 times with a level 1 till I accomplished this challenge. With my level 20 char I’m just not able to achieve that as well. I must have started this challenge maybe 200 times and played it to the actual time out maybe 60 times.
I even achieved to capture the command post and repair the generator with my lvl20char and had more than 7 mins left, but I wasn’t able to plant that damn hackbox. The enemy fortified and crowded this particular area like crazy. And since its right there at their spawn site it doesn’t matter if you shoot one, since he will be right back a second later.

I made these other videos for PC with a light and heavy bodytype and no class specific skills like turrets or caltrops.

Like already mentioned by some here, its also about situational awareness. You dont have to clean the area completely if your team is there. Sure your 3 guys dont rape the 5 bot of the other team alone, but if they are there and the other team is already thinned out and hurt, your bots do a good job of covering or keeping the others busy. These are the seconds you are working on the objective instead of shooting and waiting for them to respawn quickly anyway.
Mmkay, well my connection is TERRIBLE (even by NZ standards) so the videos are only about 1/2 of the way done on default definition. So I decided to take the challenge on for the ****s & giggle with my character, who as I said above has:

No Caltrops or Turret. I wasn’t feeling very hopeful having seen you tackle it with ease using those, General, but I gave it a shot. I used Bulpdaun w/ Muzzle Brake, Foregrip, Greeneye Scope and High-cap Mags for my primary, and had Carb w/ Muzzle Brake, Foregrip and Drum Mags as a secondary.

I figured I’d go for it because one that that had become obvious to me was that I wasn’t doing such a good job of maintaining, as you put it, “that present-ness/presence”. For the HE Charge in particular, I would never have dreamed of standing in front of it. On all my previous runs, I bolted back and took cover around those crates just behind, and shot mostly just at the bots trying to disarm. I also took the Engineer objective by taking those spawn crates up the back stairs to the top floor of the catwalks, and would end up trying to advance on it from above, using the bulk of my allies to draw the enemy fire. Now I see how much of a huge difference keeping your presence at the command post does…

I just finished Be More Objective 3* right now, following that idea of pushing them back under the repair objective and to their spawn, in 6:31 seconds. First time through.

It did seem a little harder than when you went through it (overall, mainly not having Caltrops and having to put down Landmines rather than a Turret didn’t really help), as my allies seemed hesitant at first to shoot or advance, but as the repair objective came around it’s like a switch turned them on to super-awesome-helpful mode. For the first time ever playing that challenge, I think I might have seen just as many “white killed red” obituaries as I did “red killed white”. It was BEAUTIFUL.

I’ll still watch these videos, but I think what makes ALL the difference is KEEP YOUR PRESENCE AS FORWARD AS POSSIBLE (to anybody reading who’s still struggling), what took me several tries over an hour the other night I just did now in SIX AND A HALF MINUTES, all because of a small change in strategy… and having a Carb helped too.

I’d like to humbly apologise for calling shenanigans. Whilst I still believe there was certainly a difference in the intelligence, skill and difficulty of the bots, I think it just came down to the luck of the draw rather than vast platform differences like I first thought. I’d also like to commend you on an eclectic taste in music…
Awesome Job! Push Forward, brothers!

Congrats, dude.

Congrats, man. It’s nice to see someone’s perception change a bit when it results in their gaming experience improving a bit.

See ya on the battlefield, man.
Wow, a PC vs Console argument… forgive me if I don’t sprint to engage in such fail along side you.

How did that one forum poster’s signature go, again…???

… "Don’t argue with an Idiot. They’ll only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

…hmmmm.
Excellent!, by posting to say you are not going to get involved…guess what? You just involved yourself. Think things through next time

Ok, my newest record. I achieved to repair the generator and had over 8mins left, but guess what, I didn’t achieved even a 1%hack. I swear to God SD, THIS-ISN’T-FUNNY.
I haven’t encountered a nearly as difficult mission in any computer game I’ve ever played, including C64 and GameBoy. If you want to make people insane, congratulations, you achieved it, at least with me.

Really?
2-star or 3-star??

Don’t give up! Keep hacking at it!

2-STAR

And I had over !!!8mins!!! left. Consider this!!! They are swarming the hack site like freakin bloodhounds.

I’m getting crazy, really, whats the purpose of such a ridicoulus AI?
This challenge ruins my life. I did every campaign mission with not more than 2 tries, mostly just one. Everything on “hard” The other 2star challenges not more than 3 or 4 tries with a lvl 17.

If I get "F"ed up by bunch of almost pro gamers in the MP its something I can live with, but not from the insane AI from Brink.

(General Techniq) #93

I don’t know, man. Sounds like you might be stuck in a bit of a mental-block or whatever.

Like the challenge is, in fact, very doable for you. However, you’ve developed some kind of complex with it that’s causing you to make it much harder than what it really is.
I agree that the challenge can certainly be difficult, but at the same time I KNOW that it can be much more difficult than it has to be if you approach it in the wrong manner.

(.FROST.) #94

Finally, finally I achieved it; even with a lvl24 char.* Just for fun I skimmed through some of my old posts here and found this one. Back then I must’ve appeared like a mad man in some of my posts, but I still have the opinion, that the AI in this particular challenge is ridiculously hard. Nevertheless, I tried it three and a half times and finally completed it with a couple of minutes left on the clock; took me just a couple hundred hours of practice to get there:wink:

*allready done that challenge with a low level char of course.

The debate and observations about AI difficulty ramping up do have merit. Like a lot of posters here, I had difficulty even getting the 2 star ‘Be more Objective’ and the 3 star ‘Escort’ challenges.

I tried so many methods and approaches/styles too. Then I tried it again with a level 0 and almost walked both of them - okay, they weren’t level 0 by the time the 3 stars came around, but they were a lot easier than doing so with a level 24.

A year or more ago this challenge drove me nuts almost literally and that was with a lvl17 char back then. I totally gave up on that challenge, completed it with a low level char and never looked back, but recently I just wanted to try it again and voila…
After I’ve accomplished the two star be more objective with my lvl24 soldier at the third try, I accomplished the three star mission as well after two or three tries, but that is to say, after I’ve spent more than 900hrs with Brink’s multiplayer.
