Enemy Territory is a free game. Would you mind if Splash Damage would add some kind of sponsoring to the game? E.g. always if you dead and/or in limbo a banner is displayed or an advertisement message is showed?
Banners for a free game?
Maybe not in the limbo or any in game banners, but maybe a banner in the browser screen?
Banners in the game levels would be cool, as long as they changed once and a while. Like a billboard on a wall with an advertisment that changes every day would rock. I’d be going to play every day just to see the new creative in-game advertisments (even better if they were talking billboards!)
But static 2d banner adds would be so lame… so lame I’d find a hobby to keep me busy until half life 2.
I personally wouldn’t care but I gurantee that if they started doing this on free on-line games it wouldn’t be long before they were into the games that you pay for and that I would not like at all.
if i wanted 2 look at banners i would surf the net.I play et 4 fun not 2 go around looking at the banners wot a stupid idea :banghead:
A banner on the loading screen I could live with. In-game banners no thank you. I didn’t even like it when Market Garden had the adverts on the walls. It completely ruins the setting of a world war 2 game to have modern adverts in it. Some people play purely for the adrenaline rush, others play for the immersion factor.
And as mentioned before - if one company opens the proverbial can of worms then every company would be on it like Saddam on a presidential pardon. And the last thing I want is advertising to invade every game. That would put me off gaming for life and would no doubt cause hell for the anti-piracy squad as wares would skyrocket.
The only place where I don’t mind adverts is in places like football games where the billboards have adverts. There they add to the atmosphere instead of completely destroying it.
I agree democles im sick of seeing banners all over the place, what next popup adverts while your playing a game.
the bto and gamesdomain banners in marketgarden were great. i dont think neon signs would suit ww2 mind you :eek2:
