Bad vassili players

(Tom2160) #1

Okay so I like to use vassili every 1-5 games (Whilst using vassili I average about 25-40 kills per game) but for some reason as soon as I play vassili another player (usually low level 1-9) decides to try and play vassili too. This is where the problem comes in.

-First of all having 2 vassili’s isn’t very beneficial
-Secondly the fact that most of the time the player can’t use him AT ALL

Once this happens I usually change merc just because they are literally a waste of space in our team and I try to support the team since we have 1 useless player.

So I was playing a chapel match and at the end of the game the I looked at the other low level vassili’s score and he got 4/21 with a total score of about 1900. We ended up loosing mainly because this player wasn’t contributing to our team at all.

The reason many low level players have and use vassili is because he is a cheaper merc therefore low level players are more likely to purchase him. Kids also think a sniper role is a ‘cool’ merc to play furthermore leading to more awful and useless vassilis. This is why I believe vassili should cost 50,000 credits to off-put ‘noobs’ from buying and using him.

Can only agree, probably helps people to stay motivated to play DB too. Sucks to start playing a game, unlocking a merc after just a little bit of playtime, and thinking the game is sooper dooper hard because you can’t snipe that well.

And at least I don’t have to start FLAMING/fuming when half the team are herp derp Vasssilis.

I agree!

True, but like you said at the end, it doesn’t really help them either when people stat telling them how useless they are.

I don’t care really, only situation where it’s a bit bothersome is when you just can’t seem to get the first win of the day and your team isn’t that much of a help. Otherwise, play what you want, no skin off my back. I feel good as long as I feel I did my part well

3 Vassilis are awesome at repairing and later sitting on ramp annoying enemy teams. But then i usually switch to Vassili and kill all 3 with 3 Shots because they tend to not move at all.

Some mercs should have an minimum level required to buy like level 10-15 for things like redeye, vassili (and phantom?!).

PS: I was one of these “first merc Vassili” because sniper is indeed cool. :stuck_out_tongue:

Aren’t you glad we’re getting another sniper? /s

And how are low level noobs supposed to get good at sniping/vassili when they are not allowed to play ?

Only problem I have with snipers is that in other games it’s ok for them to hang back and bring in the kills. While in DB it’s of utmost importants to push out. Especially on Chapel where the job of every non engineer is, to ensure that the enemy never ever get a glimpse of the EV. i.e. Vassilis job imo is to kill arty kira and skyhammer before they can target the EV (unfortunaly alot of players don’t get that and a 10:1 skyhammer that stayed back is just as usefull as a 1:10 vassili in that regards).

I mean I’m a very bad shot myself and even I pick a sniper from time to time. doesn’t mean I’m totally useless, but the fact I get more XP from the spotter support XP is propably telling.

Sure it’s okay to practise vassili but the thing that’s annoying is when I’m playing vassili and on top of the scoreboard and then another player who is worse at sniping decides to use vassili aswell and lingers back getting next to no kills. 1 good sniper is enough and we don’t need more than 1 snipers whilst we already have 1 good one. Even if I feel like someone is sniping and doing a better job than me I’ll change class to be more use.

Will this game ever have an option to play a map with AI bots? I think this would help people test out and practice with a new merc.

(jollyRacer) #10

I can only agree with the increase in price but you can’t really stop another player from playing vassili even if you’re on top of the scoreboard. I’m an above average sniper myself and if someone wants to train to be a sniper, they’re going to play it non-stop regardless whether there’s another sniper on top of them.

Let’s just hope that vassili gets increased to 50k so that people who buy him, will be serious about using him right.

p.s. I’m going to abandon vassili once Aimee is out. Pissed off Parisian time baby.

I agree. I rage so hard at useless Vassilis…maybe just as much as I do at oblivious medics.

(PurpleHippo) #12

It doesn’t help that vaseline got so many accuracy nerfs hes basically a useless merc in his current state.

(DaaDog) #13

At this point (600h), I’ve stopped caring if a person is terrible at playing vas or anyone else because you can’t really stop them and I’d rather just play the game, rather than roast them for being bad.

“So many accuracy nerfs”? he got 1 to jump shooting (which i don’t like) however he’s definitely not useless, just has a high skill cap (he’s my 3rd most played merc 60h).

(KattiValk) #14

I lose a little more faith in humanity with every day that goes by that Vaseline still sits on the Store’s front page with the “HOT!” Sticker by his name.

Only you can stop green Vassilis. We don’t need more level 1 snipers jockeying for bottom of the scoreboard.

(Dufayne) #15

Numerous low level Vassili players is annoying but really eccentruates the issue of too many of same merc on a team. Generally when in pubs And before the game starts, I call out the Vassili imbalance and explain why, with mixed results. Still, calling it early before anything happens in the round circumvents issue of appearing a complainer… And some newer players do appreciate vocal guidance on how to play a better role.

(solace_) #17

while I agree with you, I would say blaming the fact that your team lost on one player is not really fair. I do understand what you are saying though, it is genuinely annoying when player just do not know how to play the game properly or simple game etiquette.

(Dufayne) #18

@Mc1412013 The point @surlyOrca is trying to make in my eyes isnt a complaint but addressing an issue of team imbalance in a teamplay based game. Considering the beta status of DB and number of similar discussions, his concern is legitimate in that other games have a mechanic addressing team imbalance. Furthermore, I do not see anyone else thus far bringing up vote kicks or shuffles as a solution, so hopefully this isn’t a trolling attempt.

(Mc1412013) #19

Nope not trolling not intentionally anyways I might have gone off on a rant tho Edited to hopefully not look like a trolling post

I’ll admit I suck as Vasilli, I just use him every now and then but I want to learn to be better, there shouldn’t be a problem with that as I could day I’ve got about a 50-50 chance of hitting players and always toss sensors and actually move up with the team and objectives.

it doesn’t help that the Felix is worse than the MOA in every way except a pitiful 4 damage and headshots don’t decapitate enemies if it’s enough damage to kill off the enemy, I understand the removal of jumpshotting but many other changes should be looked at, like him still moving as if he has 100 health when he now has 110, which made no sense as 100 was a balanced spot health wise.

That said, I’ve come across players who don’t even use their heartbeat sensors through an entire game or even hit any enemy since they’re constantly trying to get headshots, this is especially infuriating when they never switch characterss
