Bad vassili players

(AnonOmis1000) #21

I can’t count the number of times a good Vassili has locked out the opponents. So often I’m on the receiving end and they complement the or team immensely. It’s like a good Phantom. It makes it an annoyance that you have to be aware of, making you less focused on the objectives. This is especially true if your team doesn’t have a decent sniper to counter or anyone who’s able to flush him out.

I’m pretty shit with him, but sometimes I’m godlike with my flicks (JW take the mouse lol). And I always throw my sensor out so that it can give my team as much info as possible.

The annoying thing is when your team is losing or even spawmcamp, yet your teammates decided to play Vassili when they CANNOT AIM. As a Vassili player, I would never understand newbie’s world.

(AnonOmis1000) #23

@AlphaUT I know. I don’t get what goes on in the heads of these low level players. I mean, I’m sure I was horrible at this game when I first joined, but I don’t think was bad as some of the things I’ve seen. Hell just yesterday I was in a game where this one guy got ZERO kills the whole half playing as Aura. Some people just seem so oblivious, like they have never played an FPS before. It just baffles me.

@Mc1412013 Many people play multiplayer PvP games to compete, show that they’re better, and win the game. Not simply lose. If I wouldn’t care about winning, I could play a Singleplayer where losing is almost impossible.

This is why we need community servers. If you run your servers and you keep getting inexperienced players playing a class like Vass you can ask them to change or boot them. Sure, it might sound harsh but it’s your/your teams server and your rules.

(Matuno) #26

There’s a difference between a bad Vassili player, and a bad player playing Vassili - mind you.

One is usually able to land at least a few decent hits and does a decent job at positioning, the other just sits there and tries, unsuccessfully, to hit the broad side of the barn he’s standing at.

(AnonOmis1000) #27

You can already do that on official servers.

@Amerika, The community servers is a good solution for players who’ve been around and are looking for more consistent gameplay. @AnonOmis1000, having been a previous long time vet of TF 1&2, the one player base these F2P games pull in are the younger kids. Incidentally the same problem we are discussing happens over in TF as well with 3-4 snipers at a time.
Some of that generation mean well and will make call outs on the field (their age range shows when doing so)… But then there are many who don’t have a clue and it’s likely due to their age. I remember TF has this approach of being a trainer for new players (not sure of it’s effectiveness but that game has loads of newbs). While I doubt that would happen in DB anytime in the future, having a more thorough training session and practice room would allow these people chance to hone their aim and such. Combined with other aspects such as community servers and other aspects, this would present DB with a better structure for introducing newer players while diminishing the negative effect they have for skilled individuals.

What a good quote

The only thing worse than bad Vasilli players, is people who kick players for playing Vasilli.

Like…fucking seriously?

Let people play, it’s a pub, kicking them isn’t going to solve anything. It just adds the toxicity of this player base.

(Amerika) #31

Of course you can call a vote. That doesn’t mean it will pass or that you should do it. It’s a shared community pub and despite your frustrations people need to play somewhere and learn somewhere.

But if you have setup or rent your own server then you can apply any rule you want which includes kicking people if you want to.

Still, this game is in development. Why would they allow community servers, especially when the community is this small?

(Merci1ess) #33

Isn’t Vassili easy to use anyway? Shouldn’t be a problem.

(Sorotia) #34
And how are low level noobs supposed to get good at sniping/vassili when they are not allowed to play ?

Only problem I have with snipers is that in other games it’s ok for them to hang back and bring in the kills. While in DB it’s of utmost importants to push out. Especially on Chapel where the job of every non engineer is, to ensure that the enemy never ever get a glimpse of the EV. i.e. Vassilis job imo is to kill arty kira and skyhammer before they can target the EV (unfortunaly alot of players don’t get that and a 10:1 skyhammer that stayed back is just as usefull as a 1:10 vassili in that regards).

I mean I’m a very bad shot myself and even I pick a sniper from time to time. doesn’t mean I’m totally useless, but the fact I get more XP from the spotter support XP is propably telling.
Sure…if it was as simple as that…but when you got two or three Vassili sitting back missing shots, on offense it gets annoying and truly kills the match…

If you want to learn then learn when you’re on a team who is doing good…not when the team needs competent players and half your team is playing a fish in the barrel Vassili.

Thank you some one agrees with me

(HunterAssassin5) #36

agreed on raising vassie’s price tag. the guy’s hard to play in a game like DB.

also its fairly unlikely a single teammate can lose you a game unless they’ve been team killing.

(Mrarauzz) #37

I’m the only one who should be allowed to play Vasili… Dude let them practice it’s a pub game who cares if you lose. I get frustrated as well but it’s crazy the amount of votes I see to kick Vasilis.

(XavienX) #38

Lol just watch Aimee be 30k.

Ok but forreal, this is a good idea and even me, as an experienced Vassili player can be useless at times. Especially now that I’m so rusty because I play once every few weeks.
