bad sniper damage and no headshots ?

i think the sniper is too weak or are there damage zones like in sof2 ?

Still when you aim for the head he should die from one shoot, not jsut helmet flying off him , he should rop dead with this head blowed off,

some times you can shoot a crawling dude 5 times and he doesnt die, seems buggy for me.

Want some feedback here from other sniper´s and see if they agree the sniper is kinda weird.

FWIW, sniper headshots do 80 damage. Myself, I think that is a bit weak, especially given how much recoil there is on the gun.

Well now come on, they’re not exactly gonna say “Yeah I prefer a weaker sniper’s rifle”!! You’re asking for opinions that will be biased. So I shall give my comment to ensure this thread isn’t one sided:

Sniper Rifle’s are fine by not being one-shot-one-kill. May the days of a sniper notching up ludicrous kill counts whilst cowering in cover be well and truly banished to the firey pits of hell!!!

I’m getting the impression the accuracy is affected by EXP, not just e.g. how much is sways… not sure on that at all but if so, thats really really pants :slight_smile:

personally i think the “weapon handling” thing should be completely removed. players learn good aim, it shouldnt be given for sitting on the map for a while.

I thought there was no sniper gun at all in ET ? lol.

A sniper gun is a gun which allows you to kill with one shot… otherwise it isn’t a decent sniper gun :slight_smile:

The covert ops’s guns are probably fine…

But ET needs the mauser… a soldier should be able to use a the mauser as well :slight_smile:

Btw how many hitzones are there ?

3 like in head , chest and legs or alot of them like in SOF2 ?

would be nice to know

if its 3 zones or so i really think a headshot should kill with one shot and 2 shots in the chest, legs i dunno 3-4 shots =)

i never use sniper but i know it takes a lot of skill to get an headshot with it and therfore think the 1 headshot kill should remain.

I was wondering why it took 2 shots to the head to get a kill, and why you have to put 4 shots into a torso to get a kill? It wastes ammo. 1 shot to the head SHOULD give an instant kill, and no more than 2 shots to the torso. You are using a sniper rifle afterall.

The other thing I noticed is you can get kills on minimum zoom and still miss the target on maximum zoom. That is so weird.

yup one headshot should kill, i hope they put out some patches to this MP test so they can tweak the gameplay. Like the Nades , you should be able to throw them in the windows at the fueldepo but you cant really cuz you throw nades like a biatch, like 4 meters in the air tops and 10 meters in front of you tops with sprinting , so the nades are really useless IMO.

I hope they soon release a patch that fixes some bugs/gameplay issues.

I agree. A sniper rifle that isn’t one-shot-kill with the amount of recoil it currently has is totally useless. Might as well do away with the weapons.

Make it one-shot-kill to head and torso, two to legs… at worst.

nah 1 shot in the chest only is too good then all ppl would be snipers , it must be 2 , and the legs well 3-4 shots, If you aim for the legs, its only bcuz its the only part that you see :wink:

I say reduse the recoil a bit , make 1 bullet kill with headshots and the sniper would be alot better.

right now you get killed by a MP40 from far distans bfore you can even put 2 bullets in him. Atleast i get killed so alot of times =(

one of the reasons, sniper rifle has so little damage obviously is its silencer. i like snipering and with this little damage i still can make 5:1 kills/death ration constantly. however it is frustrating that a headshot does not kill.
i d sugest for a sniper an option to remove the silencer if he wants to go for one shot kills.

Erm … as far as I know, the sniper riffle in RtCW is NOT a one-shot-one-kill weapon, so why on earth should the one in ET be so?

Snipers already have the benefit of superior visual/targeting range and the nature of sniping usually implies that the player is more or less hidden from view by the enemy. Why should snipers also have the superiority of having the only weapon capable of performing one-shot kills? (I know that grenades and panzerfaust can also perform one-shot kills, but EVERYONE has grenades and the disadvantages of the long refire rate of the panzerfaust easily outweighs the powerful explosion it causes)

Snipers are usually lousy teamplayers (find a remote location where the enemy can’t see you, let alone fight back, and then camp while watching the kills roll in and completely ignore what your teammates are trying to do in terms of meeting the objectives) and I think it would be a mistake for SD to encourage the “Look at me! I got a 40-2 frag score” kind of “solo players” (more polite way of saying point whores :D), since ET is clearly very focused on team play.

There is nothing more trivial and downright boring than constantly being plucked by somebody hiding half a mile away without any way of getting close enough to pluck him as well, since he just have to hit you once and you’re dead. I’ve always praised RtCW for NOT having a WW2 equivalent of the CounterStrike AWP mega weapon. They even nerfed the AWP in CounterStrike in one of the latest patches in an attempt to preserve the fun factor of playing.

P.S. This of course, is just my oppinion but if you wish to dispute my claims then please don’t use the “Well, if that sniper bothers you so much, you can just go sniper yourself and then teach him a lesson” argument, because I would just have to answer by saying: “Sure, but when does it stop? When everyone on both teams are snipers? Where is the fun in that?”

I understand what your saying as i 2 hate being sniped - but the fact you never got sniped killed with 1 headshot shows the rarity and skill needed to pull the 1 shot kill of.

There are ways of getting sinpers such as long range shooting with thompson or mp40 this is effective a lot of times due to the sniper being scoped in on someone and dosnt notice you so much.

Also with the introduction of the mortar (if good enough can take um out himself) and a good covert op signalling where he is with the smoke cannister will help take them out.

Sometimes you can also flank the sniper.

My final statement is a lot of snipers (they get me so mmmaadddd when they get me) have put so many hours refining there 1 shot kill, just to lose that abilty on ET. All i say is lengthen the refire rate to balance the snipe guns out.

I haven’t had too many problems with sniping so far. Besides the lag, sniping is good. I can kill people with 2 shots anywhere on their body. But when I zoom right in on their head and keep the sniper gun steady it does not kill them. I think this would in real life!

Uhhh, actually the mauser IS a one shot kill (against anyone, even a medic with 140 health) in RTCW if you get a headshot. I know of a few people who get headshots over 50% of the time with the damn thing. Such people are VERY good to have on your team on certain maps, and a royal pain to go against.

Well, I obviously stand corrected :banghead:

However, I really can’t recall a single time where I’ve been whacked by a single shot when I was at full healt, so it is obviously a LOT harder to get a clean headshot in RtCW than it is in games like CounterStrike or BF1942. An implementation like the one in RtCW doesn’t bother me, so if the sniper riffle in ET has been reduced even further, then by all means make it the same as in RtCW.

What really puts a burr under my saddle (and what I mistakenly thought this thread was trying to achieve) is the implementation of the instant death headshots in the above mentioned games of (especially)CounterStrike and (somewhat) BF1942 where 9 out of 10 times you get hit by a sniper, your limb, dead body hits the ground 0.9 seconds later. That is just simply no fun. Certainly not for the victim and unless the sniper really is nothing but a little point harlot :banana:, then I can’t imagine it can be much fun for the sniper either (I mean, where is the challenge?).

original rtcw has the best sniper rifle i have seen. i fall in love with it from the time i saw it.
Two things that makes some of us to admire it:

  1. u cant keep it steady when zoomed, so u have to really learn to control it
  2. headshot is a kill. however its a hard thing to master as usually u have to hit fast moving targets

as i already mentioned adding a silencer is probably what made developers to weaken this weapon and i completely agree that with a silencer this gun would be too strong in ET. so it would be a nice option for a covert oops to take off a silencer when the real sniper is needed.

is it just me or is the recoil on the garand messed up? eg the muzzle doesnt climb like a normal gun, instead it seems to spin around in a tight circle, weird. :???:
