Automatic weapon switch

Sorry if I’m raising an old issue, but I’ve searched the previous threads and couldn’t find anything about this.

On many occasions I have found that if I get close to an opponent during a firefight, my SMG will automatically switch to the pistol. Sometimes, if I get even closer, the pistol will then automatically switch to the knife. It sort of rains on your parade a bit when it happens and I was wondering if there was any way of stopping it. I’ve tinkered with some of the contol options but nothing seems to help. Any ideas anyone? :lookaround:

Go into your game options menu and set auto-switch weapons to ‘No.’ That should do it if my THC-soaked brain cells have not failed me.

auto-switch weapons is supposed to only swap to the next-best weapon when the one you currently have runs out of ammo? cvar is even called cg_noAmmoAutoSwitch. dunno whats going on if its changing otherwise, though some mice have dodgy scrollwheels which can easily activate a scroll sensor if it gets knocked, could try increasing cg_weaponcycledelay a little, i think default is 150, try 200 maybe?

open console, type
/cg_weaponcycledelay <enter>
check what it says current setting is
/cg_weaponcycledelay 200
if it doesnt fix, change it back
