Automatic call out for medic,

(Redqueen) #1

Please allow us to diasble ‘suto call medic’ when you die, its really damm annoying when there are loads of people in match and its very confusing if you are infact a medic, you dont know who actually needs combat help rather than running all over the place only to find a corpse.

(SCDS_reyalP) #2

I second that. They should yell ‘help’ or ‘medic!’ as they go down, but it shouldn’t be exactly the same as the vsay.

(Womprat) #3

I agree. On a large server with people dying all the time it really clutters up screen and just makes it difficult to distinguish who really needs a medic sometimes.
They should still yell out medic when they fall, but it you should only be able to hear it if you are nearby. The needle icon should still show up on the compass though.

(Weaver24) #4

It spams. Take it out.

(Hewster) #5

I would like to see localised medic crys too, I can’t belive players would
have the time to mic there cry for help over the radio as they die ?

Medics even cry for medic when they are hit directly by a panzer hit, and thus fragging them, that is completely useless.

(Dragon) #7

Totally Agree, let’s have either a cvar or an option to disable auto medic call please.

(Mat L) #8

More annoying is the fact that EVERYBODY hears the cry for medic.
Perhaps only Medics should hear it?
Likewise, perhaps Field Ops should only hear ammo requests?

This is more of a feature request than a bug though TBH.

Re: Auto medic calls - Daft - get rid - never have liked it.

Re: Medic calls and ammo only showing/heard by relevant classes - Disagree -

Reason being if I am in game and hear a lot of medic calls consistently then I will choose to spawn as medic and help them - same goes for ammo.

Sometimes class selections are based on knowing what is needed - If I hear no-one ask for ammo then I would assume it isn’t needed and is being catered for.

(BoltyBoy) #10

Captain I think you’re in a minority here, most people on public servers don’t give a t*ss about changing class when they hear people cry for medic or ammo. They just carry on playing and when they need ammo or a medic they think - “Oh why isn’t anyone giving me medi packs or ammo”.

So full credit to you for this selfless act for the good of the team. Question is do you turn off auto-callouts for the benefit of reducing the annoyance presented to the majority of selfish players - myself included I’m afraid - or leave it as a feature for the decent team players?

(Womprat) #11

nah, leave them for everyone. Atleast if don’t switch because people need something they might switch just to shut the up

Or if you wanted to get real configurable you could have a client option to disable them, but that might be going too far.

(alexwryt) #12

Yeah the medic call is pointless, the radar and mini-map are a better way of seeing where the injured are anyway.

(Cybjorg) #13

I agree. I would like to see the Medic spam removed, although changing the phrase to a single “I’m hit!” or “Man down!” might be ok.

(xG -Abit-) #14

I think there is a cvar for removing auto-actions.
It’s possible that the g_autoAction 1 cvar exisits, but I have yet to see if it has any relations to such vchat commands. Maybe this will be a feature in the System/Options to enable or disable… Not sure, too early to tell.

(Dawg) #15

I have to agree that the automatic medic cry needs to go. I find it very annoying whether I am a medic or not. Any player that wants a revive should be able to hit the quickchat for it themselves. Since so many players just tap into limbo, it seems pointless to have every death announced to the whole team.

Does this qualify as a bug? Probably not, but I imagine that SD would appreciate any ideas that improve the gameplay and game experience.

My guess is that 9 out of 10 people who play ET will want this disabled. I would like to see medics notified more about who needs revival such as medics have a compass and distance from person.

(Vengeance) #17

I have to agree has a lot of times when you die its easier to respawn when no medics are near by. Its very easy to press v21 requesting a medic when u need one.

I could imagine all the medic request’s quite confusing.

(Bigdog) #18

I belive only medic’s should hear the call outs because it only effects them. If I am an engineer I do not need an annoying shout everytime a teammate dies.

(BrainPr0n) #19

*adding my name to the list that wants to get rid of the auto medic calls.

(DarkHelmet[Q3]) #20

Just wondering… Those of you saying to disable to auto call have this problem with regular Wolf? I know it’s a little different in regular Wolf, but it’s still basically the same thing.

I’d like to see it more done, that when you die only if you’re with in a certain range do you hear the auto call. And make it sound more like regular Wolf with the kill auto-call… with the “ugh, medic” sound. I’ve always used that ugh medic sound to know when someone is coming.

I guess i’m just desensitized to it as that’s about all I play is medic. It doesn’t sound any different in ET then regular Wolf.
