Autodownload Problems

Well I did a search and didn’t come up with anything so here it goes.

I have been haveing autodownload problems lately just within the last 3 weeks or so before that it was fine I know that my other friends are not having the problems. I also know that I have allow download turned on, I also have allow redirect on.

Anyone else have these problems and fixed them before? or at least have a clue as to why it doesn’t work?

It does it on more than just the normal servers I play on.

WHAT autodownload problems do u have??!! We can’t read ur mind!

MY problem is when I get on a server that has ANYTHING I need to download, ie The server config or a custom map, it boots me from the game to the internet to thier website. I also know that the server has it turned on too because my friends can autodownload the stuff just fine.

It depends how the server has been setup. Some might boot you to a clans website/file website to get the required files… some may take you direct to download pages… it might allow you to download of the server ingame or it might just kick ya to menu… :]

Eg, imagine someone paying so much money for so much bandwidth. The server alone will be using alot running the game and the last thing the admin may want is players needing to triple that by downloading from it… hence it may redirect you to somewhere else.

Your best bet really is to:


cl_allowdownload 0

… and wait till you get kicked. The error message will tell you what pk3s you are missing and you simply go download them. If for example the servers running a stock map but has customs installed and it wants you to download them to get in even though you dont need them to CURRENTLY play then when you connect, again;


cl_allowdownload 0
reconnect

… and youll be in.

I figured it out… When I was getting kicked it looked like it was trying to download to the point of me being able to see what it was trying to download so I figured the allowdownload was working but the url redirect wasn’t so I set that to no in options and tried to get it again. Of course to no avail then when I rest it back to yes allow url redirect and tried again it worked.
