Australia AND Asia taken out of ranked?

(doxjq) #1

Really? Why? Previous numbers shouldn’t be anything to go off if this change is supposed to make all the difference. I thought that was the whole purpose of this update to ranked. Every night I am playing there is literally 15-20 Australian servers all full. We have the player base, there’s no doubt about it.

How are you supposed to grasp how well this change to ranked works if you’ve taken two regions completely out of play? Not everyone is going to play on American servers with 200ms ping

You make a change to ranked to promote more people to play it, then you force two regions to play on the other side of the world with terrible pings if they want to play the mode at all. Seems a little counter-intuitive doesn’t it?

It’s annoying getting a bunch of asians playing with high ping anyway. I get the thinking behind shutting them down and forcing that player pool over here, but it wasn’t the right decision.

(doxjq) #3

It’s annoying to play on high ping, but it’s just as annoying to play against people who have high ping, you’re completely right. I won’t be at all surprised if people just ask us to leave or rage at us for having a bad connection.

I just played against a team that had two asians at 150-300 ping and then some guy who was on 900 (wtf?) for most of the game. Hardly won by 30 seconds.

Asia has terrible routing to America. Australia has terrible routing to both USA and Asia. Luckily here in NZ we’re not too bad all three ways. I ping 40ms to Aussie, 160ms to Asia and 150ms to America quite steadily, but Asians and Australians quite often ping 250+ to America and to each other.

This is just so wtf, how do things like this get put through seriously. I’m not necessarily saying opening all the regions again will boost the Australian ranked scene, I’m just saying it’s incredibly retarded to force people to play with 200ms+ or not at all. Seriously mind boggling.

(Backuplight) #6

Not sure I understand the logic of removing it rather than just saying “We understand it’s not perfect right now, but keep playing it as is and we’ll keep working on it”.

(Sinee) #7

Apparently there aren’t enough people playing ranked in your region for them to justify the amount of waiting time it causes if I understood right. Or…something like that. Yaddayadda technical jargon.

But that is exactly my point. That’s why I am saying the previous ranked modes figures shouldn’t even matter. These changes they have made are hopefully going to boost numbers in ranked by removing the 5 man team stomps. Wasn’t that the sole purpose of the update? They then take away our servers and force us to play on ridiculous pings, thus we’re back at square one where once again no one will want to play ranked.

Finding a game quickly doesn’t mean you should sacrifice the quality of the game you’re playing to the point where it is almost unplayable.

(MilkyBear) #9

Sigh As i said in the previous post that i hoped this update will bring more to people into ranked play, now we can’t even play.

(RyePanda) #10

You’d think they could have kept at least one, but both? Eliminating comp for the whole region?

(bushyg) #11

Even if we could choose US West only I’d be a little less pissed off, but as it stands, I really thought this could invigorate the Aus ranked ‘scene’. There was a small player base on the Aus ranked servers before the cheaters destroyed it- Nexon and SD took way too long to address the problem and now we have no ranked servers due to some more bullshit graphs.

(doxjq) #12

eLim just said the same thing @sympatheticMotorcycle

“They should just blend Asia and Australia if that’s the case, not get rid of both of them”

(uWotm8-AU) #13

To make things worse the US pings are jacked when playing ranked.

When I select US WEST, I can get a 150-160 ping lobby easily. For some reason the comp matches ping is like 250-300. Where are the US comp servers? Venezuela?

(MilkyBear) #14

@rancid they should have done that, now the population is already dead. There is no point to re open those servers. I guess they was like “well shit, they are small in number anyway …”

(Jostabeere) #15

This is extremely contraproductive if you just installed an update to improve the damn system noone was using.

(doxjq) #16

I’m pretty sure they just don’t realise how poorly most of Australia and Asia ping to USA. It’s either that, or they don’t think a ping that high is a problem. Which ever way they reason it is not good enough. At the end of the day if they think people from these regions are just going to think nothing of it and play on a high ping regardless, then I have no more words.

Go NZ wooh… Except we can’t choose US West for comp, it shoves us on an East server with 200+ ping and were jumping all over the place. This sucks!

(Ardez1) #18

Asia & AU both used the same system as EU and US, and both EU & US had very significantly higher populations. While I disagree with the decision to eliminate their servers entirely, your statement is meaningless. There just wasn’t a high enough population in those regions. They made a poor choice on what to do about it, but it wasn’t the ‘system’ or nobody in US and EU would use it either.

(doxjq) #19

Yeah sorry @TheVulpesFox I was meaning US West. I also ping 200+ to East servers with an insane amount of warp.

They deactivated it right when a new update that could potentially increase the number of players in those regions hit the servers without even trying to look ath the numbers with the new system. A pretty headless move in my opinion, sorry.
I meant the whole competitive mode as the “system”, in case you misunderstood me.
