Attention people who got Brink early

(Jess Alon) #1

You shouldn’t go around making that public because it can get your account locked if you piss off the wrong people. If you have it early then just enjoy it instead of trying to be the center of attention. I think the moderators would agree.

(Nail) #2

nah. post up a storm, screenshots, ingame vids, anything you can possibly do

(Jess Alon) #3

I think it’s pretty disrespectful to splash damage who haven’t been able to tell us all sorts of things to have some idiot who bought it from someone who broke street date tell us this stuff. There’s a reason these videos are getting taken down. It’s not merely just money. Some people don’t want to know everything and are patiently just waiting to experience it.

(Nail) #4

but I want them to get banned

:penguin:

(DouglasDanger) #5

Post a picture of yourself, holding your ID in one hand, the receipt from the store you bought Brink at in the other.

(throwback8) #6

I would really like to see this one.

(Jess Alon) #7

Please do because it’s an automatic 50K fine for the idiot that sold you a copy.

(On a side note: I don’t care if people find a place to get it early. Because I live in Louisville my UPS is a little too efficient and I sometimes get release date stuff the date before. But I’m not going to throw up a bunch of videos and crap. I’m gonna customize my character and keep it to myself. But I’m definitely NOT going to go looking for a place to sell me a copy a week early and then start making videos, throwing them up on youtube, and linking them to the developer forums.)

(Nail) #8

fine ? by who, not illegal, just unethical

(Jess Alon) #9

There’s a HUGE sticker on the top of the game case that says “DO NOT sell before 5/10/2011”. It’s at LEAST pretty ignorant.

(DouglasDanger) #10

Jess, you are kind of coming off as an internet tough guy kjerk here. Maybe it is your tone.

Who would enforce these street dates? The publisher? Some government agency? What would happen if a store or chain broke the street date? Would whichever group go after the consumer or the retailer?

Buying a game from a place is a lot different than pirating it.

(Gamer2Gamers) #11

If you buy it and they sell it to you it’s not your fault it’s the actual stores fault so they can flaunt it off as much as they want it would be dumb if they got punished for that.

(Realirony) #12

I dunno whats going on with the stuff. But some kid on youtube, channel DrJoystickler had about 4 Brink vids up of him playing the game. They were all removed today around lunch time. And he posted on his YT channel that he was flagged for Infringement and that he apologized.

I dunno who flagged him though, or for what type of infringement >_o

(H0RSE) #13

this man speaks the truth! Tell it on the mountain, Preacher!

(throwback8) #14

Look out, the broken street date policeman is on duty.

On a side note, H0RSE - the compendium was the best read I’ve had about Brink thus far. Such an excellent compilation of info on the game. Just wanted to say, well done.

(Gamer2Gamers) #15

Yeah, there is a few videos on youtube talking about how to get brink or cracking it or some stupidness like that, I’m not sure why people can’t wait or why they would even do that in the first place, if the store sold it to you that is a different story can’t really blame the person for that though.

(Joe999) #16

lol. you are talking about resellers who earn a 6 euro per hour, who have hardly any education higher than compulsory school. do you really think they care about stuff like that?

also, brink unboxing:

I’m pretty sure its a contract fine. Its something the stores agree to when they say they will take a shipment of the game. So it would be up to Bethesda or SD to take up arms, i assume.

(Chili Squirts) #18

Oh come on Jess…do you really care that much? Let the people have their fun.

(indirect) #19

No, actually it can’t. THEY did nothing illegal. The store that sold them the copy did.

(RadBrad31) #20

The stores are the ones in trouble, not necessarily the customer UNLESS there’s something in the TOS of that game against playing it before the street date (I think).
