Exactly my opinion Kamikazee
But to be honest, i would not mind if the team makes an exception for me

I wish signing up to a forum and acting self important got me a spot in the beta.
Am I the only one that thinks that MANIAC shold have written an email to SD, instead of posting in the General section?

maybe if you had 35 years of playing, your own group website and had completed over 1000gigs worth of game engine filming
-you could-
HL2 is very limited? huh? Custom capping values, direct audio dumping, demo smoother, full cvar control on demos, ingame cam tool running over a demotic systemā¦ have you even tried it? Load the demo smoother and have a play, not very hard to work with what so ever. I also suggest you check out A Few Good GMen befor writing it off.
And hell, thatās even before they introduced dof and other cinematics into the engine!
What are these limitations?
And Still Seeing Breen showed nothing of the engine at all except face poser :/, rest was standard capped footage with a few transitions. Well done none the less, nothing special tho.
nice arguments tbh. how do you know that he hasnāt got 30 years in game programming and 30terabytes of code running through his brain?
āhey iām more important and i know more about games because iām uber pro and i have a uber pro website and i make uber 1337 videos!!11ā
for someone with 35+ years of age (i guessā¦), you just managed to reply as a 13 year old. congrats, really.
and btw, great films donāt require great ātechnologyā. yes it helps, but some of the best movies iāve seen were made with games like quakeworld (!), q3, hl, hl2, rtcw and recently W:ET. the best tool in creating any kind of artform is your head and imagination. originality is the key tbh.
and btw, a little search through the forums would have shown that several individuals like you have started similar threads and got the same response.
and kudos to darkangel, nice movies m8.
@kamikaze: yep, itās common sense. but most people donāt have it.
J
PS: btw, movie makers to find bugs? that doesnāt even make any sense.
ahahahahahahahahaahahahahaaahahahahah
youāre so cool. lol.
sorry i couldnāt resist myself. i laughed hard after reading that one

@MANIAC~VVV~: donāt expect them to comment on every post thatās made here, the game just isnāt finished yet. patience ā¦ thatās what we all need, but i bet at the end it will be worth the wait
So your arguement here is, because no great movies have been made with the game, then the game engine itself is flawed? Because no one uses the game to make movies, then itās hard? Iām sorry but a sive holds more water than your arguement.
Breen was all sync, no special editing at all. As i said, it was well done iām not argueing with thatā¦ but again nothing special editing wise.
And sorry but YAWN at the what have you done arguement, so very childish. Dare i have to say it, iām a member of shaolin productions (11 golden llama awards to date and 10 nominations this year), but this isnāt a flex your pecs arguement here. I asked you a simple questionā¦ what are these limitations you speak of? As far as i can see it, HL2 is a very capable engine for capping vids. Please, tell me the negative parts of the engineā¦ i really want to know. I know of a couple of small bugs in the demo smoother, but nothing that makes it a poor engine. the fact you can rewind demos when creating the cams makes it miles ahead of most engines already.
Btw Bush has been president for a long timeā¦ doesnāt make him good at it.
Yes, it means their focus on development is currently fixed on their biggest group of customers: the players. Which makes perfect sense, as the game is being made for the many players and not a few movie makers.
BTW. QW will have extensive support for modding, so given this:
You shouldnāt have a problem in adding the functionality, you need for making your movies, by yourself.
So let SD continue the work on the much more important, not movie related, parts like gameplay and balance.
