Did not realize this. How much faster are we talking here? Either way, everyone stacking up in the open on the EV instead of pushing angles is not vice.
But yeah, I’ve seen a ton of people repairing the EV together instead of being useful.

It no longer moves faster with more people around it. It’s always the same speed now. That was changed, uhh, maybe 3 or 4 patches ago I think.
Usually it’s hard to find even one person to stand by the EV while I’m waiting to respawn after repairing and dying.

That patch was in June and the tips thread from August still says more players = faster EV.

The feature of having the EV move faster with more people was from Alpha. When it was taken out of Alpha they forgot to take it out of Bridge.
They mentioned they took it out of bridge because it was a bug fix. They missed it when it was removed from Alpha.
During Closed/Open Beta the EV never moved fasted on any map besides Bridge, so that was the only one mentioned in the patch.
EDIT: Oh, and that tips thread pretty much just copied most of the old tips thread without confirming the tips were still viable.

Yeah it didn’t show up while I was writing my post. Saw it afterwards, but didn’t bother editing mine
I just started playing comp with Sniff and a few other guys… I finally realize why they play comp most of the time.
Rewards are disproportional. Look at Chapel. One kill on an attacker repairing the EV gives 400+ XP to a defender. Disabling the EV with a single shot airstrike is what? 1000XP?
The only thing that gives that much XP attacking is destroying a primary objective with C4, and your team has to defend it for 30 seconds.
The more players you add to a server the more it magnifies the game’s flaws. You can’t balance a map for 5vs5 and 8vs8.
When attackers have to travel 3x the distance to get to their objective, and the defenders know exactly where they’re headed, and they get so much more XP for stopping them in far less time, what incentive is there to be the attackers?
Dirty Bomb needs some serious balancing. Otherwise this is going to be a game relegated to 5vs5 competitive play and dead pubs.

@LouCypher What is your source for a 400xp kill?
The C4 takes 50 seconds to explode.
@LouCypher What is your source for a 400xp kill?
Rushing the EV on Chapel, repairing, and being the first killed = 400+ XP for the defender that killed me.
Happens all the time.
The C4 takes 50 seconds to explode.
And less than 3 seconds to disarm, further proof defending is cake in Dirty Bomb.

That’s just cause of the First Blood badge which gives +250, it doesn’t have anything to do with repairing.
That’s just cause of the First Blood badge which gives +250, it doesn’t have anything to do with repairing.
XP is still way disproportionate for defenders. If I zerg the objective on Chapel and have a positive k/d ratio at map end I’m usually top score on my team with half the score (or less) of the top 3 defenders. Everyone else on my team always has far less.
If you want to level more quickly, and by extension, earn more credits, defense is the only good option. Otherwise you’re attacking and fighting amongst the other objective specialists, or engaging in selfish behavior like playing your own personal game of deathmatch contrary to the team’s needs (like 3 snipers on offense).
I’ve actually seen people ignore the C4 I planted so it would get defused hoping they could plant their own which they then decide to defend.
