Attack! and Heal Me!!!

(=AiS=MrLee) #1

Hey! :smiley:

Been playing recently on a public, and they had 2 VSAY commands I cannot find.

“Attack!” and “Heal Me!” … anyone knows the command for that?

[Offtopic]
Is there also a way to get hold of the boxart of the ‘would-be’ retail version of ET? I’d like to put ET in my game collection with a need DVD-cover :clap:

I went and checked out that tutorial on how to write scripts, but the link to creating an autoexec.cfg is down.

I tried making one myself;

I downloaded a script from that site that makes a menu with the other vsay’s. Then I made an autoexec.cfg (blank text file) and put in the line:

exec “et-chatscript.cfg”

Now when I load up ET (using the desktop icon //This may be my problem), I dont see my changes.

Can you point me in the right direction here? I think I may need to use a command line string to load up my autoexec.cfg, but I’m not sure the syntax.

rotflmao … why mess around when these commands are already on hotkey?

In the options there are several chat-keys:
general chat, teamchat, quickchat, fireteamchat, and fireteamquickchat.

The last one is the one you’re searching for: Fireteam quickchat
It basically has only contains 3 commands: general (useless), attack!, and fall back! .
Join a fireteam, press keypad zero, and if you have a medic on your fireteam, you have a special submenu for medic commands !
Press the fireteam quickchat hotkey, and you’ll see you have a new number, 2.Medic where the commands for heal me, revive me, revive teammate and heal squad are …

You only get to see the special commands if you have an appropriate character in your fireteam, so the command for Infiltrate! and Provide sniper Cover! won’t appear unless you have a covert ops on your fireteam.
And don’t forget to select your fireteam members with keypad 0.

He Thanks … I never played around with the Fireteam as it seems a bit useless to me … but could be handy on a public server though :smiley:

Thanks for your insight wicky, but before you post a reply laughing at me please try to answer the question that was asked.

My question is about how I can ET to load my script, not about chats. This was just the random script I d/l to try.

Is there anyone else that can help me please?

P.S. This script does more than the fireteam chat. I can make it display to the whole team, even to all players if I want. Also I can have premade strings pop up with the chat displaying the text in the color(s) of my choosing. I believe it also will make the text stay indefinitely (9999 seconds), or until it gets bumped by another message. Many more things could be added.

Wah to exec a script in the console you just need to type /exec “script.cfg” make sure the script is in the ETMain folder.

(Ifurita) #15

I think I fixed the link problems.

  1. make sure the autoexec is in /etmain

  2. Make sure the autoexec has the .cfg extension and is not actually named autoexec.cfg.txt. When you save your autoexec the first time, you have to encase the file name, “autoexec.cfg” in quotes or windows will just add the .txt extension

  3. If all else fails, add the following bind to your autoexec:

bind x “exec autoexec.cfg”

Then manually load your autoexec the first time by dropping the console and typing:

/exec autoexec.cfg

This will give you a key that you can use to force a reload of your autoexec anytime

(twiFight) #16

this is my autoexec.cfg:

//	/$gamedir/autoexec.cfg

//	initialize custom script(s)

	exec	twiFight.et

//	eof

It’s in the /etmain/ directory and my configfile (twiFight.et) is too.

(Ifurita) #17

your config file needs to be named twifight.cfg

(twiFight) #18

no it doesn’t. this config works fine.

[edit] wah is the one with problems, not me :slight_smile:

(Ifurita) #19

interesting, in any case, my autoexec is just:

exec ifurita.cfg

(twiFight) #20

the name/extention is of no importance
the game just looks for the file specified and executes all commands found in the file.

my Quake3 configfile is called twiFight.q3 :slight_smile:
