ATI Cards/Good Framete

(Progz) #1

Hey guys,

I currently have a Radeon 5770 and lately I been wanting to buy a new video card. Since I do wanna buy a new card, and Brink doesn’t work right with my card. I was wondering if ANY ATI cards actually work with Brink and if so…? Which ones?

Thanks,
progz

P.S. Posting a newegg link would be nice(if you bought yours from there :))

Edit: I was thinking about buying this video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-102-878&SortField=1&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=2#scrollFullInfo “SAPPHIRE 100297L Radeon HD 5830 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ ATI Eyefinity Technology”

But Im really sure yet.

Edit 2: Why a ATI card? Well I have a AMD quad core, and I dunno I did some research and it seems like everyone has says, combine them with ATIs, same go with intel and nvidia. So I would rather do that then have problems. But if you have a AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU, say so.

if you have a 5770 ati card you have to update its below minimum requirements to run this game. They mislead us with there current joke minimum requirements as is. Though i would try to go above the 5xxx series if you want a real shot running a decent fps.

(Progz) #3

A ATI HD 5770? Is not below minimum requirements. Where did you get that from?

edit: then again, i cant understand what ur trying to type and tell me.

(Nail) #4

ignore Niceperformancethere in post above, openGL games work better with nVidia at this time. With that said, ATI has said they will deal with Brink specific problems with 11.6 drivers if your willing to wait, your card should work fine if that happens

(Niceperformancethere) #5

because i cannot run the game at a decent tick with everything turned off an autoconfig running and it still runs poorly. So in turn since my card cannot reach a constant 30 fps it fair to say that the card (5770) is not even fit for a minimum system spec.

(Progz) #6

Do you have a source to this? So I can read it too? Since I am a ATI user, I would loveeee to see such information!

(Niceperformancethere) #7

ignore Nail, he doesnt have a job.

(Progz) #8

YEAH people can be dicks on this forums for sure.

(Artheval_Pe) #9

Niceperformancethere doesn’t really understand how a graphics card work so he doesn’t really understand neither that the video card he is talking about is not under minimum requirements but buggy as hell.
Hell, in theory it can run the game very smoothly. You just have to wait for AMD to release proper drivers.

As far as I know, no recent ATI card model is sure to be able to run Brink properly because their driver is broken. It’s not the hardware itself that doesn’t work, nor the processing power that is lacking, but the video card driver that as gone AWOL.

My buddy has a Sapphire 5770, and is playing the game fine.

It seems many problems that people are having are all based on individual stuff, cause I have a 6870 and it runs the game fine, but not as it should, whereas my friend with a 6850 plays the game at max, no problems.

I think this a ATI problem, not with Splashdamage.

Don’t waste money on a 5830… if you want to get another AMD card, go with a 6850 or 6870. Friend is running a 6870 with a Phenom I Quad-core with no issues, I’m running a pair of 6850s in crossfire with a Phenom II Tri-core overclocked to 3.2 GHz with no issues. Now that’s not a guarantee it’ll run perfectly for you… performance is very subjective. What’s ‘playable’ for one person may not be for another. For FPS games, 45+ FPS is playable in my opinion. It also depends on what settings you’re running… try messing around with them if you haven’t yet.

(Sheza) #12

Hey there,

I have a 5770 and it’s working badly too. You should ignore the first post in this topic, he’s a troll. Nobody lied about the minimum specifications, our cards should be able to play almost any game on medium settings at the very least, wheras I’m having a hard time playing it on lowest of the lows.

For now, we wait.

you may also wanna look here. i posted the rc2 from catalyst 11.5a which might help you as well.

oh. btw. you can ignore @niceprformancethere. hes spreading this “false information” thing all over the forums.

(DJA) #14

This is interesting because I can play the game 40-70fps with my ati 4890 i7 920 and 6gb ddr3.

It runs smooth enough to play properly.

ps. And im playing 1680*1050 with my 23" lcd.

(silphatos) #15

yeah it runs smooth enough for me as well with my oldie 4850, it must be a problem of the 5xxx series.

(v0lky) #16

Either you are just dumb or trolling.
Have you even read the Forums or what people are saying. AMD cards are still having issues with the performance, how is it so hard for you to understand that maybe they are fixing it and hopefully releasing the patches soon? I’ve been playing games with 5770 just fine. I think Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is more heavy than Brink and I can run BC2 just fine.

And even with everything low and FPS config’s on, you can run Brink with a 5770 just fine.
Right now they are just having major issues with some of the AMD cards. So why don’t you just get the hell out of the Forums for a while because all I see you doing is spreading negativity around here.

(Crispy) #17

Neither misinformation regarding Minimum System Specifications nor personal attacks are tolerated.

Progz, I would suggest lowering the resolution as a temporary workaround to increase performance.

(killazz112) #18

We don’t give a s- about your ‘workarounds’. Give us the product that’s been paid for.

Honestly man. I haven’t seen a single constructive or useful post from you in here. So why do you hang out on SD forums?

I can see that some people are frustrated with the ATi problems, but posting your exact info and trying to help would for sure be the better way than just spamming every single thread with insults.

Calm down man. No need for insults.

And just for the records, the game IS NOT totally broken. I’m playing with a GTX 260 in 1920x1080 with everything maxxed out except Ambient Occlusion and I’ve had no problems i SP as well as MP so far.

Good for you, “pro”. If you paid 50€ for a game that’s not working, and the entire developers ignores you, I’m sure you would be pissed as ****. I wish I could turn my game back in so I could buy Duke Nukem. The first game. Even that one is better than BRINK, and best of all… It’s PLAYABLE. :stroggtapir: :penguin: :stroggtapir:
