Assault mod?

(Strogg) #1

Is Quake Wars going to be played kinda like UT2004 Assault mod.

IE:

best 2 out of 3 game win the game?

IE:
First game play offense

Then…

Second game you will play defense

Then…

then 3rd game back to offense

Best 2 out of 3 wins the game?

Is that how it is going to be played?

Thanks

AFAIK it will be played just like current ET. for pub anyway. Although there might be more of a balance of offensive/defensive maps per team compared to current ET where allied are pretty much always attacking

I’m quite sure each map has a set defender and attacker. I think they said at one point they wanted to switch it around based on the last map, but the story would not flow.

NOTHEEEENG is final, but it’s probably safe to bet that is.

The safest bet is “random order” since server admins will probably throw all maps in obscure campaign orders.

Apart from that, scrimm’s will probably use stopwatch’s ABBA order on the same map. (Meaning you play the map twice, with team’s switched the second time.)

I guess it will be played just as W:ET.

In most cases on a public server there will be campaigns which consist of three maps. For the duration of the campaign you will gather experience and upgrades, but at the end they are reset. Every single map will just consist of only one round which either ends with the attackers fulfilling all their tasks or the defenders holding them off. On the next map teams stay the same, but maybe the roles of attacker/defender are switched (see Valley (GDF attack) and Ark (Strogg attack)).

Competitive play is somewhat different, here you’ll play the Stopwatch mode: This is basically like the Assault Mode in UT2k4. At the end of one round the experience points are reset and the teams are swapped. Then the clock is set to the time the first team needed to accomplish all objectives. If the second team manages to get everything done faster they win, otherwise the first team is declared the winner of the map. In case both teams successfully hold the other team back as defenders it’s a tie.
