What’s your opinion? Should it be removed from a competitive game such as Brink or does it fit?
Are you for or against buff damage?
It’s fine. Health can be buffed, Kevlar can be given, there has to be a balance to it all.
I have no problem with it.
I like the concept of refilling ammo or health, but adding Health and damage… not at all, competitively speaking.
Rookies can kill with buff damage VS someone without his health buff and that’s just dumb, if you ask me when a game stops being challenging.
No problem with it at all. As Bee rightly says, it helps to balance all the health and armour buffs and adds another layer of team play strategy.

So… work as a team and ensure everyone is buffed correctly. It’s very simple, and if you’re not doing this you’re kind of missing the /entire/ point of Brink.
It only shifts the challenge. If you don’t like getting killed by buffed weapons then make sure you’re buffed yourself. Or do you keeping your team buffed is too challenging?
Can’t we just accept the game SD gave us? They spent ages balancing this thing, I trust everything is ok…
I like how he mentions competitive play, yet he fails to take notice of the aspects of Brink that would be essential to it.
Brink is not only about shooting stuff, it’s about managing your team and making sure everyone has the ability to kick some.

I don’t think Brink is only about buffing, but much more about simply managing your action slots that slowly recharge over time.
The problem with buff damage is once it is applied, aiming skills are pointless; noobs can kill.
A powerup is good as long as it still requires some skill to use, exactly like a special move in any fighting game. Otherwise, the game won’t be challenging. I don’t see anything challenging when I face a dude with a SMG, my health wasn’t buffed and he spray me like a beginner and eliminate me in a fraction of second in the legs.
If buff damage was replaced by buff critical hit (more damage per headshot), then it would be already more fair.

All you’ve proven here is that you don’t understand how armour and health buffs work, and how they can be essential.
PS - Damage buffs don’t just work for the opposing team.
Of course, all of this relies on a decent team… but then I find your comment about comp play a little strange as comp play would exploit team buffs fully and coming up against players stacked better than you would be far less of an issue.
Yeah, it’s not like you can’t buff your own team’s weapons/health/armor…
Wait a sec…
A 10% damage boost is fine.
A ****ing 30% boost is broken beyond belief and will be banned from competition if SD doesn’t adjust it.

Sorry dude, but you totally missed the point and by miles. I’m saying that buff damage is by far overpowered. Even if you don’t have kevlar, health buff and buff damage applied to you, if you have some skills then you should be able to eliminate a buffed opponent; but here it’s not the case.
Anyway, less experience players cna say whatever they want and SP can do whatever they want, but don’t call Brink a game for core gamers. It’s a fun, tactical and casual game and that’s it. Good enough to wait other games…

No, dude, YOU missed the point, this game isnt about who can do a 720 collatoral quick scope the fastest, hell its about TEAMWORK! if your the best player you should be buffed, if your the best fighter, GO AND PLAY COD! that guy that Got 5 buffs from his teamates deserves to pwn you, you know why, Cos he had teamwork!Go suck Cod:Bo’s Dick.
Why are you playing Brink if you don’t want to play a game with Brink features?
Lets take out all the buffs, take out the parkour because it makes lights OP, and while we’re at it… everyone has to play soldier. Coming from one of the only people on these forums that has played Brink competitively on the 360, I think this thread is as trash as the “fix t3h lag!” threads.
I’m for keeping all the buffs from all the classes, except the temporary invulnerabilty from medics. that pisses me off.
I’m against engis giving it to themselves, but other than that its okay. It encourages squad play, or at least it should.
I have the same problem with medics giving themselves a health boost. They should only heal themselves, not get the whole boost.
A great game requires teamwork AND skills both equally. You can’t just reward teamwork, it’s non sense.
If your friend gives you brass knuckles to punch someone in the face, unless you have the skills it’s not going to be easy even if you have an advantage.
In Brink, once your damage gets buffed, it’s a joke…
Adrenaline boost. but it does have negative effects, still bloody annoying when a heavy with a minigun walks thru you and your team making swiss cheese out of you.
If gunplay isn’t part of the game, why do people want to play with others who shoot well? If I’m better than you at aiming and firing, I shouldn’t lose just because I just spawned and didn’t get buffs from everyone, because you don’t always spawn with an engineer or a medic and sometimes it’s more important to go to the fight instead of waiting to be buffed. They should stay a part of the game, but they shouldn’t influence the whole dynamic and balance of 1v1s like they do now.
Can’t we just accept the game SD gave us? They spent ages balancing this thing, I trust everything is ok…
Didn’t they also spend ages making sure the game worked? How’d that turn out again? I wouldn’t really know, since my game is unplayable when I only get 26FPS.
