Are Brink & Rage set in the same universe?

(yoomazir) #1

You know, both involving Arks, both set in a post-apo world.

So Rage is set on some wasteland with mutants while Brink is set in the sea with a population that is totally cut (travel or news) from the rest of the world, all these doesn’t necessarely nullify each other.

Anyway that is just my 2 cents theory, personnaly, I would love to see them related, it’s always a shame that a rich game background is only restricted to one area of the world.

(tokamak) #2

I think it’s the extreme isolation that makes the background so rich or at least unique.

(yoomazir) #3

I agree, but like I said, it’s just one area, what about the rest of the world? That’s why I was thinking that maybe Rage/Brink could be set in the same “world” just in defferent areas and situations, not everything needs to be set in the same setting.

And what would that add to the story? I mean, it draws it power from being cut-off not having a clue what has happened in the rest of the world. Just like 28 days later, it added to the tension and intrigue.

(yoomazir) #5

to Brink? I guess nothing but that was not the point. I’m just asking if both games are related, that is all.

(Stroggafier) #6

We’re talking sequal, here! Brink 2: Unbeknown to the inhabitants of the Ark, yet secretly known by Ark’s creators, there is a second Ark, hidden deep in the jungles of the Tiaga or New York (your pick)… The race to secure/steal resources from the other Ark is on!

And this time, the other Ark is inhabited by Amazon women.

(yoomazir) #7

I always thought the secret Ark was in space…

(Stroggafier) #8

OK, Space Amazons it is!

(yoomazir) #9

No Space Hamsters? lackluster sequel then…

it would be one of those connections where it is loosely clued on upon by easter eggs.

Isn’t it easter tomorrow?

Everyone is making apocalyptic themed everything. That’s about it :).

(tinManz) #12

The cliche is overwhelming. It seems like the video game industry is loosing its sense of individuality. However, I think is somewhat different do to the fact it’s set within a decaying paradise rather than a desolate landscape.

(INF3RN0) #13

Story lines, etc are a bit more important when it comes to SP for me anyways. When it comes to MP my interests are much more focused, so I really could care less about the generic theme. I do agree that SD particular setting is quite a bit more original than everything else out there.

(Slade05) #14

I honestly could not understand why anyone would want to know. If yes, what will change? And if no?

(INF3RN0) #15

I don’t think he knows that they are separate developments . Probably for the same reasons that a lot of people think this is TF3.

(yoomazir) #16

hum, I’m well aware that they are “separate deveolpments” tyvm.
I was just guessing since both games are being made by 2 groups that have some relation (Wolfenstein/RTCW:ET, Quake4/ET:QW) and the fact that both games are being published by Bethesda.
It’s just a guess guys, out of curiosity, not an Interpol investigation.

Fairly sure that they are completely separate.

Kinda funny that people are asking for a sequel even before the first(perhaps only) part is released. I’m sure the story will keep alot of us busy the first days and perhaps many times around. And after/between those times the multiplayer seems like an evening well spent. As for the topic I’m pretty sure they just have thier similarities in the history, nothing else. Althought the dedication to the game and it’s background story is nice to see, just makes you want to play the game even more!
