Towards the end the guy from ID software mentions the xbox 360 and PS 3 and Quake wars. Could this mean we could possibly see it on consoles?!
Anyone watch G4 interview with ID software?
Nope. Actually Carmack didn’t hardly talk about QW at all… Since he kinda didn’t make it… He was also very nerdy… Other than that it was all info we’ve already heard so we’ll have to wait for the playable demo reviews/impressions and crosses fingers videos.
Erm… these are already out dude. Check the various threads in the forum for them!
How many times did carmack use the phrase “on there”? Every interview hes in that gets used aton of times, even got used a few times in the making of doom 3 book. :blah:
I doubt ET:QW would be ported to those systems, since the overall game experience is designed from the beginning for keyboard/mouse combo and re-translating that to the console experience takes time that I feel ID software (as the producer) prefers to focus elsewhere. Where? Wolf 2. This is probably the game that will take advantage of the “Live Anywhere” paradigm, merging the PC and console experience – or to be exact, PC and X360.
it would be nice, like bill gates said, if i could start this game on my pc and then finish it on my phone.
that would be just awesome.
here’s a link to that vid btw: http://www.g4tv.com/pile_player.aspx?video_key=11274
the interview is rather disappointing, it’s titled to be about quake wars, but it’s about ps3 vs xbox360. no need to watch it, the interviewer just asked the wrong questions.
Sorry for the noobie “speculations” and questions in this post…
After watching this “interview” of very short questions, and the other longer one at gamespy, I kinda get a wierd feeling id wants to “take more credit” than they should, that ETQW is “their” game?
The interviewer didnt even say the full name “Enemy Territory Quake Wars”, in the short G4 interview, just called it Quake Wars.
Sure, they had perhaps short of time, but its kinda bad form not including ‘Enemy Territory’ when presenting what they talk about?
Who is responsible for the greatness of RTCW MP anyway?
Nerve + Grey matter + id, did RTCW. Right?
But what company made the very unikely balansed classes and weapons that is in RTCW MP?
I guess I understand Splash Damage, couldnt be responsible for that, since the classes and balansed weapons were already in RTCW MP. SD “just” improved the classes and balansed weapons alot, and added new maps?
So who made it the MP part? Nerve? Grey matter? id? All three?
I consider RTCW SP to be very very well done. It is amasingly fun to play RTCW SP for the first time.
But since I my self have played the ET MP game for 2.5 years or so, I consider the ET MP idea to be genious.
So I kinda want to get my facts straight and know, “who” or what company should get the credit for the original RTCW MP unique genious idea with the balansed classes and weapons.
I see Splash Damage did alot of work, since I can compare RTCW MP with ET MP, so alot of credit goes to them for making the RTCW MP concept a more defined and developed work, so we all could enjoy it.
Sorry for all this newbie talk…
anyways…
Carmack is the man and we all know it…
The interview was disappointing…they could have chose to talk about the doom3 engine, quake wars or even the future of id. But no, they chose to talk about the console wars.
I know Carmack has gotten himself into the cell-phone game market…maybe this is a prelude to Carmack and consoles. hmmm…nah.
well, kevin cloud is from id, not from splash damage. anyway, the interview with kevin cloud and paul wedgewood shows one thing: locki got an awesome dedication for that game, i like that
And in what way is that any news?!?
I respect the man but he IS very nerdy…[/quote]
I’m just saying, seeing him up next to CliffyB who was pwning in Gears of War AND answering the interviewers questions and looking surprisingly cool while doing it makes Carmack look even more nerdly than he already was. Besides, CliffyB incorporated the chainsaw into the main weapon, Carmack’s game has it totally separate Also, in the interview, CliffyB showed off the chainsaw move AFTER the interviewer was done with his questioning, none of the other developers and demonstrators did that in their interviews, heck Carmack didn’t even have any gameplay with him!
Though on a more positive note, he did talk about advanced processing technique enough to totally confuse and bewilder his interviewer so that was pretty cool!

realy? i though he was just talking about the evolution of the mega texture that lets you uniquly texture the entire map. although he might have said that the long winded way
I thought CarMac did a less good explaination than, what Paul and Cloud did in the gamespy interview.
