Anyone seen this before?

So I’m playing and I notice that two player on my fireteam are now Axis. Bug, right? I notice one of their names is highlighted in red, as I see him on the axis team, he has this icon over his head. I certainly have never seen it before. Wuzzit?

I don’t know about the axis/allied side of things, but I know what that icon is.

That icon is a FIRETEAM ICON. There are 5 of them ( well, 6 if you count the blank one ), each with a different logo ( presumably for fireteams Alpha, Bravo, etc ).

Have a look in the pak0.pk3 - they’re called ‘fireteam1.tga’ through to ‘fireteam6.tga’. Here’s the lineup:

I haven’t yet seen any of them in gameplay though, and two are distinctly smaller than the other three… so I can’t tell you exactly what they mean :(.

Weird, must just be a bug.

No, they are not a bug. And they are great to use. Iffy wrote a cool script to use them:

//Fireteam script - toggles buddy team icons
set showteam "selectbuddy -2; set nextteamtoggle vstr hideteam; echo Team Highlighted!!!"
set hideteam "selectbuddy -1; set nextteamtoggle vstr showteam; echo Team icons hidden!!!"
set nextteamtoggle "vstr showteam"
bind F4 "vstr nextteamtoggle"

If you check your screenshot you can see that Lt Fred is highlighted on your team - it’s him that has the icon over his head. You must have pressed ‘2’ on your keypad… ?

Yeah, okay, the symbol has been explained, now why is he, as an ally, on a fireteam with axis?

Maby two Covertops??!..

BTW: Thx Jack 4 the script, Didn’t find where to enable those icons =)
And it’s time to start supporting my fireteam

(Coolhand) #8

You don’t need any scripts to enable fireteam functions - they’re built-in. See for instance this thread: http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1107

Hmmm… Lt. Fred is dead according to the fireteam display - could that guy with the icon on his head be a covert ops?

I have seen this on occasion, it happens (sometimes) when someone in your fireteam swaps sides. Either request that they leave your fireteam, or kick them from it to remedy the problem (oh and hope for a client side patch from those charming people at SD  ).

Well it was definitely Fred, he was on my team the previous campaign. While I didn’t know about the fireteam symbols, and now I do, the fact is he is on axis, and I still see the icon.
