Anyone see this players review?

Well, after waiting over 2 years for the game, I just played for about two hours and pretty much hate it
The art style and everything is fantastic, but the gameplay is dreadful.

-There is absolutely no sense of direction at any time.
-your AI team mates are 100% useless, making playing solo impossible.
-Your guns do little to no damage, and run out of ammo almost instantly.
-The ENTIRE game is 8v8 deathmatch with some minor objectives tossed in for variety.
-XP is character specific, but then you must spend it on different classes, so essentially it’s class specific.
-Freeplay mode with all of its “options” is a joke. You pick the map and number of players, that’s it.

All in all I will mess with it this weekend to get some achievements, but already don’t want to play anymore. My friend was over and he played for a total of 6 minutes before turning it off. If you love Team Fortress 2 more than any other game made and want some multiplayer gaming, I would say try it out. Everyone else, save your money for LA Noire.

4/10

doesn’t seem to like it - pretty much fits in what the other people have been saying about ammo depleting super fast.

(Kurushi) #2

This is why I love SD. Their games are cleansed;)

He might be right, or he didn’t play it properly.

(Gamer2Gamers) #3

Yeah, it’s actually spreading like wild fire and causing some people to back off getting the actual game from other forums, it’s really just one guys opinion, I’ll still get it and form my own but so far it sounds accurate from what everyone else is saying.

(Realirony) #4

I read through the other pages on the forum that was taken from. They do not seem to be as excited about the game. They also do not appear to be SD veterans or people that play too much else. Evidence of this is that more than 3-4 people canceled their pre-orders just because 1 kid gave it a 4/10. Someone changing their mind that fast without trying the game out themselves doesn’t tell me alot about how strong their willpower is. Not only that, but the kid reviewing it appears to have came about the game ahead of street date which already speaks of his character and viewpoints to begin with.

That and the website is called “dvdtalk.”

I dunno, but like I’ve said other times in other threads. I don’t care about or trust anyone’s opinion on an entertainment item other than my own. People will give it horrible reviews and good reviews. It all depends on who the reviewer is.

I’ll be keeping my pre-order and remaining excited about the game. I haven’t seen anything from vids or interviews that points me in the direction of “this is going to bomb on release day.”

If I am wrong and somehow the suck sneaks in, I will say now that I never saw it coming.

(Jess Alon) #5

Dude I bet that guy didn’t even play the game.

(Gamer2Gamers) #6

Yeah, I actually checked if he was being legit, it’s on his gamer tag that he’s been playing it.

(Jess Alon) #7

he said there’s six maps. He must not have played it right.

(throwback8) #8

His gamecard is linked under his posts. Indeed, Brink is his last game played.

EDIT: someone beat me to it. sorry.

First of all this reviews on console, so im worried about it, Im playing on pc and this game isnt a console ported to pc game, there were two development teams one working on console, the other working on pc, and things vary from pc to console, mouse is always more accurate than a joystick so if this guys wasting alot of bullets then he must be bad at games.

(Whydmer) #10

Let’s take him at face value. So the dude doesn’t like it. I don’t know what he does like so how can I value his opinion. I’ll trust the fact that most people who have commented on hands on play earlier have stated they liked it.

I paid in full for it yesterday, because there was not a chance that I was not going to buy it Tuesday.

(BuzzNot.V1) #11

I look at it like this we all know he did not get the whole exp of the game sence he has only played offline with the pcs most likely on easy so duh there not that good. So playing half a game does not mean much. All take it as 4/10 for one half and 4/10 for the other makeing the whole an 8/10 and thats not to bad.

Agreed, I’ve been watching an hour and 13 minute feed on justin.tv of a 360 copy. It looks just as amazing as I’ve always thought. In fact, it has gotten me even more excited if that’s possible. Some of the firefights with multiple teamates and enemies are awesome.

(INF3RN0) #13

BEST REVIEW SO FAR!!! I hope to see more console reviews of this nature. In case you don’t follow my logic, read his review again and you will see that SD didn’t sell out the ET gunning style after all :). Even with the auto-aim they don’t understand what the head is…

(At the Gates) #14

Looks like a terrible ‘review’, if you can even call it that. From what I’ve seen over at Justin.tv earlier, the game is rather great and I cannot wait to play it. Sometimes its better to stay away from the forums since most people will try to make it all seem negative, and you will rarely ever see anything positive.

(TAPETRVE) #15

Well, if said dude was waiting as eagerly for the game as he claimed, he’d know that it takes a bit more than 3 bullets to take down an enemy. So I call bull**** on his judgement. He’s just another worthless busybody. We’ll know the truth for ourselves in a few days.

(crazyfoolish) #16

-There is absolutely no sense of direction at any time.
What does this even mean?

-your AI team mates are 100% useless, making playing solo impossible.
Coeld be true but i think most players are buying Brink for multiplayer.

-Your guns do little to no damage, and run out of ammo almost instantly.
Sounds like a typical COD player complaint.

-The ENTIRE game is 8v8 deathmatch with some minor objectives tossed in for variety.
Obviously this is complete bull****

-XP is character specific, but then you must spend it on different classes, so essentially it’s class specific.
Not really true.

-Freeplay mode with all of its “options” is a joke. You pick the map and number of players, that’s it.
You’re an idiot.

Just my 2 cents.

(indirect) #17

More proof that purely console gamers are babies.

(hamstein) #18

The guy just listed 6 bullet points of things he doesn’t like. He obviously seems upset, most likely bitter that the game didn’t meet his expectations hence the low score. However as I was saying earlier this is hardly a review and more “6 things I don’t like about BRINK”.

As for the AI team mates thing; AI always sucks, and guess what? The other team is AI too!!

Little Damage and Ammo on guns? Well the point was for it to do little damage and the ammo is so soldiers can be useful

8v8 Death match? You could argue TF2’s payload mode is like that too, you kill people while doing objectives.

Dunno what he means by the XP thing.

I’ll wait for a real review, someone who can be bothered to write a paragraph weighing the games pros and cons would be lovely.

In the words of suicidegrunt. /thread

(Gamer2Gamers) #20

yeah the further you go down within that thread the more he dislikes the AI but it doesn’t matter anyways I’m pretty sure everyone who replied in this thread like me is going to purchase the game
