Anyone have problems with GeForce 5950 Ultra?

Hi first post although long time peruser.

Recently got a nice computer, never ever had problems before with my old one and ET. Now I can play for about 30 minutes, then the screen gets all funky and it locks up hard. Mostly I want to know if there is anyone else out there who is having problems with the 5950 Ultra. Seems to work fine in other games. I do have the latest and greatest drivers for mobo, vid card is 56.72 driver, and have dirextx 9.0b. I read up on the problems with some NVIDIA drivers and ET, but understood the latest driver should’ve fixed it. Thank you for your time.

A “funky” screen ususally indicates overheating.

I don’t think it is…although I’m first to admit not extremely smart on computers. The core temp is 49C and lists slowdown speed as 140C. It seems to do the same thing on RTCW, was wondering if it might be those 2 games no worky with my card. NVIDIA has no documentation listed in their README and it cuts through games like COD no problem. I did have a bunch of tweaking for my old system in the config I transferred and removed it thinking might be fooling with unsafe video settings, but the RTCW install was fresh on this comp.

Certainly does smell like overheating, try leaving the side of your case open and see if the problem persists. Other components like the CPU and Northbridge are prone to high temps also.

Load game and on the title screen drop consoledown with the “¬” key and type /pb_system 1
Now play and let us know if you are still getting problems.

Thanks for the help. /pb_system didn’t seem to do anything and the video is getting bad just normal computing type stuff…“no signal” on monitor etc. Computer company is sending me a new vid card. I asked them to switch for an ATI 9800XT (same/lower price than NVIDIA)…no deal

Anyways DANKE
