Anyone else hope Medics get nerfed in QW?

I’ve just come off another 4 hour ET stint, where as usual,a ton of medics just own the maps. There simply isnt any other class that can head to head fight better than a exp’ed out medic.

This is frustrating to me because I can either become a medic (which I’m a bit bored of) or simply accept die’ing every time I see one. Now I know this doesnt always happen, but if you played in skilled servers like me, you know it does.

The medic is better at being a soldier than the soldier is, in effect. Shouldnt the Soldier be better at rambo’ing than a Medic is? I always thought that Medics should have gotten the FG42 covert ops gun instead of the super accurate Thompson for example.

I read that the medic is going to get a grenade launcher with a machine gun in QW? That seems a bit overkill for a support class, and makes me think that Medics will be the ‘Soldier’ class of QW and not a support class.

Anyone else see Medics as overpowered? If you think they are fine then why?

a medics only strength was health, which in smg vs smg fight is quite important, a soldier wasnt a rambo he was heavy weapons his strength was use any weapon mortar panza flamerthrower no other class could use not rambo, medic favours rambos due to health regen. By nerfing said medic class it reduces it to support only with no real individual strengths for the individual all the other classes have, like airstrikes and mines rifle grenades uniform swapping which other classes have.

If medic is better at being a soldier than soldier is then so are all the other classes which can take a smg and have other abilities last i checked medics dont have panzafausts or mg42s

A Medic shouldnt have battle related strengths comparable to a Soldier or Field Ops. They are support.

I’m just saying Medics shouldnt have the best gun. The engineer can have the same weapon, but building pales in comparison to health when we are talking about fire fights. Why not give the Medic a less accurate at a distance weapon than putting them on par with soldiers? Make them deadly at medium/close range, but at long range ineffective so they become a support class like they should be. All of ET’s classes really fit their imagined real life roles, except the Medic.

I’ve said it before and I say it again, if they wouldn’t have added the extra clip for the medic we wouldn’t have had the situation we have today. That’s the big problem with xp, it breaks the dependancy of the other classes. Medics don’t need fops, since they have enough ammo. Soldiers don’t need smg backup since they get that weapon after leveling etc etc.

So I do really hope they think hard about what kinds of leveling we will get in QW, I don’t have anything against it in theory, but as it is in ET it stinks tbh.

Well, given the number of medic related threads on this forum over years, I’m pretty sure SD is aware of peoples complaints about them. That said, the last info I remember reading is that ET:QW (human) medics get a rifle grenade and/or scope :smiley:

Mmmh in shrub using a bug it wasposible to become medic with a weapon like riflenade, it makes the job easier to be honest. But seeing the maps are a lot bigger in ET:QW I think long range weapons will be able to take medics down much easier :slight_smile:

Seeing as medics have both scope and grenade launcher modules available for their assault riffles, yes, it’s apparent they have been nerfed. Now they’re one of two classes with assault riffles, instead of 3. Engineers have short-ranged shotguns, and there’s no news about covert op weapons other than sniper rifle…

Sorry, but medics with scoped assault riffles are the ones to do the ranged damage. Engies - shotguns; field ops - submachine guns. Only Coverts seem to be better at range.

Medics with scopes are better from a tactical point of view. I believe ET had the balance pretty sorted yeh medics are good but what chance do they have against a panzer, mortar or a good sniper? each class has its plus and minuses. If medics were nerfed people would stop playing as them then complain that there was not enough medics on the field.

The Medic doesn’t get a scope and grenade launcher for his assault rifle, that was reported based on an earlier preview build. He gets a standard assault rifle.

When previews mention the weapons a class gets, they tend to only cover the first/default choice (e.g. Shotgun for the GDF Engineer - he can still choose an rifle with grenade launcher like in Wolf ET, but I don’t think this is explicitly mentioned in any previews I’ve read).

My suggestion is still to split the medic class into 2 subclasses: A “real” Medic with 20HP med packs and full revive, tons of needles, regen, maybe pistol only. And a paramedic with 10HP med packs, 3-5 needles (not restored by ammo packs) and no full revive, no regen, but SMG and tons of ammo.

This would make First Aid level 3 (full revive) useless, but this could be replaced by “mega health”- Medic packs give 30HP and Paramedic packs give 15HP.

Just to be fair, I’m sure the preview I saw that in had a huge “Gameplay is still subject to change” disclaimer too, which I would normally have mentioned in the post… but the idea of sniper medics with noobsticks was just too good in the context of this thread :moo:

They dont have the best gun, they have the base weapon every class can pretty much carry, interms of equipment they have nothing, few grenades, and start with low ammo initially. Engineer can have the same weapon but he can also have a rifle and grenade launcher, that greande launcher can kill medics in one shot. In fights yes health is important, but then can a medic win the map like an engineer? no it cant. There shouldnt be support classes, every class should be viable just dependant on other classes for certian things, what should be the smg class lts? everyone being lts is no differnt to medics, soldiers should never run with SMG instead of its bigger weapons its just not smart. Whats so bad about putting them on par with soldiers since well every class in the game is better than a soldier with smg.

Medics are poisonous at times but if u play as a team it can counteract them. I dont really minds medics tbh only those that dont revive. That is well annoyin!
