Anyone else getting funny ability interactions since SS3?

Three things that keep happening to me since the last SS3 update:

  1. Fragger nades blowing up in my face as soon as I let them go even when they are no where near their max cooking point.

  2. Arty airstrikes some how landing on myself even though I set the marker to a location more than 50 metres away (some times even cross map distances). When they land on myself or right in front of me, there is no IR marker on the ground to give me warning. It’s all well and good to say maybe I am just stuffing up, but I main Arty with nearly 200 hours on him and I’ve never had this problem before, but it’s happening quite frequently over the last few days.

  3. Kira lasers going in a totally different direction to where I aim it and like Arty, often redirecting to myself even though I am not aiming it anywhere near me. I know the marker can play up a little if you’re accidentally aiming it at funny geometry, but I’m talking about open spaces here where there is nothing to block your aim or get in your way.

Anyone else?

Note: There’s a possibility that these incorrect marker problems might be occuring when you’re being shot at. I’m yet to test this but I have a funny feeling that when you’re being shot at, the game for whatever reason treats the aimpunch as geometry and redirects the marker to yourself. I think it might be a bit like how when a fletcher nade is on your face in your vision you can’t shoot without blowing it up even though it’s not in front of your gun.

I’ve had this happen to me randomly before, the marker can sometimes be pretty unwieldy.

I only noticed on fragger that sometimes when cooking nade, after throwing, you will still have a nade in your hand.
It did not throw it. No cooldown, but usually some seconds too late. :frowning:

I think I have seen some of this happening Dox. I don’t play those characters myself but I have seen some players killing themselves with their abilities rather “oddly”. It is rare but rather odd when it happens. It could be something…

Yes this! I just came back on here to update my OP with that haha. Been getting this as well. I cook it, throw it, it just disappears and I have a nade in hand ready to throw again - No cool down to wait for. Very odd.

Having the same issue with frag nades and I’ve called in lasers that immediately track towards me, completely ignoring all attempts to guide them elsewhere . Also, burst rifles seem to jam more often. Not sure if this was a balance change to make it more difficult to achieve maximum ROF or a bug.

Animations and audio are more often delayed or are just missing and feedback from taking damage sometimes feels delayed since the final Summer Squash as well. Does the animation quality option only apply to your own character model or all? Attacking knife animations are missing whether I have animation quality on high or low settings.

The Kira thing bothers the hell out of me. I die like 2-3 times a game because of it, generally making up for the majority of my deaths :frowning:

Pheonix getting stuck in the healing animation for no reason leaving me running around for 5 seconds.

THIS. Happened to me a huge number of times and with every throwing abilty (Fragger, Stoker and Fletcher).

I’ve definitely had the fragger thing happen. I’ve the Phoenix healing animation getting stuck, sometimes for seconds more than I held it for. It sucks when you release your mouse knowingly at the right spot and Phoenix keeps charging and you’re all just like WTF are you doing dude!?

Also, I’ve had Phoenix’s ability animation occur, but his ability didn’t actually go off, and it reset the cool-down as if I’d never done it. I also have video footage for both of these things, however, I was lagging really bad today so that might be why Phoenix crap was happening.

Funnily enough, I actually got on the forums today to ask about this. :wink: You go Dox.

Are you referring to the thing where a Phoenix tries to charge his pulse, and the charging animation keeps going after you release the button?

The amount of frustration with fletcher :/. Throwing the nade and still having it in my hand. Or throwing the nade, seeing it fly, trying to detonate it and no explosion (no phantom around).

Having an inconsequent ability really kills the fun in exiting and balanced fights.

Yep, can confirm that. Didn’t happen that often but a few days ago I wanted to lazer a group of enemies and already made my pillar of fire move their way but then got shot. The next moment when I watched if I’m frying the enemy I saw that ma lazer decided to turn around and go the way back that it came from… weird.

I thought I was the only one. The ability just doesn’t release unless you switch to a weapon and back and then you have to charge it again.

On another note I’ve also been having sticky grenades not throw, not detonate after I hit the detonator several times, sometimes detonating and doing no damage when stuck to a target, etc., like how the frag grenade sometimes doesn’t throw and you have to re-cook it.

A weird one that i’ve been having sometimes is Skyhammers airstrike grenade not throwing after the animation.

This was way before Summer Squash was even started.
