Any tips for playing Rank?

(Tanker_Ray) #1

Well,just as the title says.

Recently, I am feeling FF mode on is very much different compared to the pubs.

I don’t think many forum guys have seen the DBN Asia/AUS cup, but I was a hired gun in Singaporean team, and my team was totally destroyed by Australian team at the very beginning. I did had so much trouble playing in 264 ping, but the lost was mainly because of lack of practice.

BUT since Asia comp is dead and there is no way to practice(Japanese team practiced with themselves, as they have over 300 people in their DB steam group), I just want to hear some basic tips from anyone in here.

All I could do before the DBN was playing 6 vs 6 Stopwatch all day long, and I feel like playing pub is useless nowadays after the defeat. Someone please give me some tips for rank besides git gud.(if someone doubt my skills, then I’ll post my profile stats then.)

Yo Thunder, find me (MilkyBear) and @Xan on steam. Maybe we could play Ranked sometimes.

(Tanker_Ray) #3

me and Xan is already friend. I can play US WEST pub as I barely gets the 180 ping, but I have no idea about the NA Rank.

and now I remember you. You are the one who plays Sawbonez and Bush in Asia server right? last time we met you were like level 36 or something.

FF has both pros and cons . From killing your own team mates to turning the enemy abilities into themselves

But as we talked before , i think your main problem would be finding a ranked match in Asian Servers . Only thing i can recommend is find some good people from the pubs > make enough friends > start a group > and search for a match together , Or maybe even a private match .
( hit me a msg , If you need to fill in a few spots )

Attack and Defense tactics heavily depends on the team and squad you play with . And it needs time to build trust within your teammates. And its so rewarding to see how the teamplay and tactics works out .

Mines and AoE abilities ( especially airstrike ) are deadly to your own team if done wrong . So make sure you call out before you break the floor .

Ranking tips : Just Win . because even if you have 20k points on the score board ,you will still loose points from reaching the next rank if you lose . So stick with the teammates and make sure that the objective is done at any cost .

It is very hard to play in the comp server and practice because there are less servers in asia for comp and people are rare to appear … even when the match is connected you may find a Hacker probably … so the best way to practice is Private match … Me ( P.D. of GOD clan) available any time for private matches so that even i could get practised by playing with you guys … Xan you mention right ?? If Xan is from GOD clan then you might find me on his friend list … i don’t have a premium steam account so i could’t send friend req … pls feel free to add me … we could help each other for further DBN !!

Round up 10 players and play 5vs5 with friendly fire on. DBN private servers should do, just talk to one of the admins for the password. Or do a private match.

yeah that’s me, 39 now, trying to get to lvl 40 club lol, i got 200 on NA servers but its freaking hard to find a match because of timezone. Xan and i still managed to Gold 4 with 300 ping on EU server. Such a shame that noone plays comp in Asia.

(HonourBound) #8

main tip for playing ranked: don’t solo Q

(LifeupOmega) #9

Don’t solo queue
Expect bad players who will ruin your game if you do solo queue due to pubs not teaching players how to position themselves.
Wait for new season as MM is dead anyway.
Go play pugs with DBN, it’s more fun.

Find a team to play with or be able to carry entire matches by yourself. A team is probably the better option since individual player skill matters less on a team with good communication.

And it depends on what you’re trying to accomplish? Are you going to play just MM, or DBN tournaments, or Proving Grounds? If you plan on playing in DBN, you need to learn the map strats inside and out, and knowing how to do trick jumps. There is a lot that goes into being a good team on DBN, considering that some of the top teams like sick6, pr0w^, and fE will completely smash you if you’re not prepared or well thought out.

One thing I have come to realize lately is that good teamwork trumps individual player skill by a mile. Good communication and the creation of crossfires is what wins games. Every death matters in DBN tournaments, and the more you die, the further behind in the game you get. Playing around spawn timers is a given at this point.

If you are purely trying to play MM, the teams there aren’t even close to as hard as DBN. I know teams like fX and t> play in MM though, and they are good teams. You wont have quite as many fair games (both ways) in MM, but it can be a good starting place or practice with FF on and playing around the spawn timer dynamic.

Well, hope it helps. Good luck :slight_smile:

@DirtyMerc I’ve seen a lot of GOD clan guys in the Asia pubs. To be honest, I don’t think you guys are skill-based clan. I need someone like K.K, Ryukou, Xanniart level, not medium or medium high skill players for practice and team, sorry.

Also, DBN Feb is my last chance I have, since I’m joining the Special Force this year. I don’t have much time to do so…

@sympatheticMotorcycle Thanks for the offer, but I don’t want to play in shxtty ass ping. 264, and even 180 Ping while I was in DBN was still awful as fxck.

@HonourBound @LifeupOmega I’ll carve that in my mind.

@N8o

Are you… Haise?? I’ve seen you in forums quite many times, and heard you are one of the best DB player including Fubar in Sick6 team. Thanks for posting tips for me.

be able to carry entire matches by myself… I’m not being arrogant, but I’m actually very tired of doing this all day long lol. May be I’m not as good as Amerika or your level, but I am quite good with my hands as much as I’m confident with my self. I… am trying not to blame my team mates, but at least I did quite well with my best while 264 ping, and the lost was mainly because my team was bad.

My goal was to win first prize in DBN Asia/AUS cup in this year Jan and Feb, last chance I have.

Well, I’ve already lost one and my purpose itself is quite various since there is absolutely no way to play Rank in Asia too. Did couple scrims with Japanese team C!AL(team that lost at 3/4th decision match), but it wasn’t enough as hell.

I agree with ‘good teamwork trumps individual player skill by a mile’ part the most, because that was why my team SLASH got destroyed due to the stupid strategy that every other 4 tried to depend on one person, me.

Anyway, really thanks for the other tip though I still have none of the environments to practice.

Nope,not a skill-based clan,just something i made up and people starts joining

If you want skilled clan,be sure to checkout ‘666’.They sure aint social,but they are skilled

(PD_Agent47) #13

@ThunderPro That’s okay… but There are lot of players Skilled in GOD clan … Xan , turtle, Charizard and there are many … even though there might be some new members in the clan. Never decide the potential of a clan from few of it’s members :smile:

I am not boasting of this picture or never meant to say that i am better than ryukou … but i managed to turn the table even at 240 ping in that game :smile: there are also clans like 666, ROIDS, VN may be they could satisfy your expectation . Thank you :smile:

Already been friends with skilled Taiwanese. They added me first though.

I actually asked QAQ and Xanniart to recommend DBN, but they said they were just playing for fun. I’m quite sure those two are much stronger than LS’s team, as much as K.K level.

(Tanker_Ray) #15

@DirtyMerc

Well, I am seeing many skilled Japanese players are leaving DB or their skills got much worse than before like Apple0826 or Ryukou. Haven’t seen K.K too. May be because they are sick of playing pubs all day, or quit the game and came back so that they lost some game senses. 666 Taiwanese are in this state too, and VN? no. Really, not to be arrogant but I’m better than them, because I always talk with my score.

I’ve met Charizard before. he is medium-high I think, and if the turtle you are saying is Sergeant Turtle guy, oh yeah. he is quite high skilled I would say.

and now I remember you P.D. Your Red eye was quite good. Thought we’ve played quite many times. I do remember the game I played with you in Underground.

I remember almost all of the DB players who dwell in Asia server, as much as I’m known as the guy who always press V 5 4 at the start. Say Hi!

(Amerika) #16

Just throwing this out there since you mentioned that you wanted to win a cup. High individual skill and playing with others with a high individual skill won’t win championships. Strategy combined with skill and sticking to a good plan while surrounding yourself with players who don’t fold is what wins championships. You’ll beat lower end teams through skill alone but once you get up into the big leagues individual skill sort of goes out the window a bit compared to having a solid strategy and reacting to other strategies.

Choosing a team or building a team based on skill alone won’t help you achieve your goal. Finding people who are skilled and also have a certain type of mindset during play is what lets teams consistently win.

(Tanker_Ray) #17

@Amerika

Yeah I felt that with my skin last week. But isn’t it better with ‘good individual skill’ and ‘good communication, strategy’? May be I’m trying to be way ideal, but like you said I’m still trying to find people who are as skilled as me or even better, and also have a certain type of mindset too.

I’m not saying ‘I only need good players beside me because I’m so good already’. I just felt I need stronger team mates, because our strategy has gone to garbage can since 2 guys weren’t even able to achieve the basics due to the lack of ‘individual skill’.

I know ‘individual skills only’ have so much limit, BUT individual skill is almost the basic of competitive player since I was pro FPS gamer long time ago, started it when I was only 16, challenging quite many tournaments with various team mates. I know that so well, more than anyone.

(wolvie) #18

Tbh, you probably don’t have enough time to build good team synergy in the 2 months you have to win a cup

(Tanker_Ray) #19

@wolvie

Asia server’s population is too damn low… considering there are skilled player who plays for just fun and refuse to compete in place like DBN, yeah. Guess I’ll have to stay as pub beast before I join the army.

I just mention it as more of a general thing for people reading who are wanting to get into competitive play and not just for you specifically. The guys with strong individual skill only tend to be on teams that constantly break up and reform. They also rarely ever win anything or consistently win in longer invite leagues (not that DB has ever had one of those) and tend to be the 3rd, 4th or 5th place finishers that can’t quite get there. I’ve seen it a lot. Some people can’t handle a loss or bad play (either in a match or even a scrim) and instead of analyze what was done wrong and correct it they just start blaming their teammates, the lucky guys who beat them or the game as opposed to looking at their own play.

It’s a rather large thing that people tend to overlook when either looking for a team or building a team. Finding a team with strong individual players who also have the mentality to figure out what’s wrong and the ability to take a loss (hopefully in mostly scrims) is what takes a team from the 4th place finisher to winning championships and doing it consistently.
