That’s what the error report tells me, it did work perfectly at one point, but keeps crashing now… :bash: …anybody any idea at all what the hell that means? I really need to get this fixed, I’m having withdrawal symptoms here :banghead:
Any techies about? I need help with this error
Yep. Clear. You got Offset: 0002d11c when you run obsolete OpenGL version. So you have to get the OpenGL v1.4c driver version. You can find it at http://www.opengl.org/users/downloads/index.html
Sorry I was just joking
I have no idea of what all the thing means.
What s your OS (XP, 2000 ?). Did you search in the forum for a similar behaviour ? Describe your configuration Video Card - RAM amount - processor, etc … this may help
already done all that about 5 posts down…
I’ve copied it all from the previous post
It plays fine for about 5 minutes, then for no reason, even when spectating, it just crashes, I get that stupid windows box that tries to insist on sending the error report to Microsoft, I’ve asked on the Enemy Territory.com forums and they suggested here, any help would be appreciated
System Specs:
Athlon 2100+XP
512 DDR RAM
Geforce 420MX
Soundblaster Live 5.1
All drivers are up to date, even the bios and the VIA chipset, and I have plenty of free space.
When I first installed it, it played fine with no problems whatsoever, then I installed Teamspeak, that’s when they started, so I uninstalled Teamspeak, still happened, so after about a week, I uninstalled ET completely and then reinstalled ET, but it still happens.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanx
If I had your problem I would suspect Teamspeak for dirty uninstall.
Look at your services currently running to know if there are something from Teamspeak remaining. And try Regclean tool to be sure nothing is remaining. Finally use your task manager and look at the processes.
That s my $0.02, cos I feel guilty.
good luck
PS: I don’t know what OS you have so I try to help for Win 2K.
K, Thanx, err…n00b question, but I can’t be bothered to go thru the reg key by key, so where would I find this regclean you speak of?
S’ok, think I got it

not this one -> http://download.com.com/3000-2094-881470.html?tag=list
but this one http://www.webattack.com/get/regcleaner.shtml - above is MS one
Did you look at event reccorder/observer ??
configuration panel/administrations tool/event observer ?
perhaps you could learn something useful .
You might open the case up and make sure the fan
on the video card is still working (assuming there is one).
Sounds like a heat issue if it happens 5 minutes after
intense 3-D… my GeForce2 did that when its fan died…
worked fine most the time but would error out a few
minutes into RTCW.
Just a thought…
SiliconSlick
There isn’t a fan on the gfx card, but it plays other games fine, RTCW, Postal 2, Vietcong, UT2K3…all without any problems
Do you have a small/portable fridge? powerful or portable air conditioner? 6 Coke bottles full of water and frozen and a little brother to blow over them?
Open your pc use whatever you have to temporarily get temperature down. Try to play in a server, if time does not change, forget the temperature and return your fridge to his original position. If it does work (it did for me, I live in Spain and we had around 45 Cº/ 113 Fº inside houses faced to sun.) get a better refrigeration for your pc of tell your little brother to keep blowing and bringing iced bottles.
P.S.: I opted for bringing a house ventilator bigger than my pc case and duct tape them together.

Can it be overheating problems? You can check this by running other programs in the background when playing ET and whenit crashes and you can still enter the other programs, it’s not overheating…
If it is overheating, a couple of new FANs will do for you. -
Do you have problems with some programs? Like you have to reinstall them over and over? Or other weird symptoms, then I advise a virus-scan, my ET used to crash cause i had a virus that was eating my exe after the install, so it might help. You don’t have a antivirus? Then here you go, a good one, free and online.

I do appreciate all the ideas, it shows concern for fellow gamers, but I can enter other programs after the crash, temp isn’t a problem, I live in UK and the fan I have is more than adequate, I’ve even tried nuking the registry of all keys wuth ET information on them, but still no luck.
I really hope I don’t have to nuke my entire system and start all over again, that would be really…inconvenient
Ok, one more try. I’ll say many stupid things, ubt maybe something makes sense (or works without making sense at all.

Review your VIA drivers. Don’t believe the driver they are telling you to download is the good one. I needed to download 3 separate drivers instead of the 4 in 1 pack and install over it to avoid my sound card to crash a game (splinter cell, I think it was).
-
Review every single process your computer execs on start, if you don’t know one of them seach in internet. Don’t run anything that doesn’t seem unavoidable, and then add things if something doesn’t work.
-
Before starting game watch where is your swapfile and then set it to a ridiculous size you wouldn’t ever use. Try setting it in every hard disk you’ve got one by one.
-
Clean your registry There are a huge lot of free apps to help you there, just look for “registry” in downloads.com, google, megagames whatever. You’ll find one that you like.
-
defrag a HD and install ET there with at least 2 free GB for him alone.
-
Then open a ram scanner, a process killer and google.com (in case you want to know what are you killing) and kill everything but what would shut off/disconnect/crash your system.
-
kill your tools (last the ram scanner) clean your ram.
-
run the game.
if it doesn’t work, debug it with something like SoftIce ™ and watch what commands are crashing your system.
I did all the suggestions before, but not the softice ™ one, I’ll try that, thanx for the ideas
