Any plans for DRM on this game?

I’d rather not be forced to play all games on a TV with a controller because masses of marketing money says consoles are cheaper and better for games and consumers believe it.

100ms input lag will be compensated for and written off in the same way auto-aim, regenerative health and other “tweaks” have made up for console inadequacies.

As I said though, the market this is aimed at is the same one that buys into the console hype. If Onlive takes off it’ll likely impact consoles more and differentiate the PC even more, perhaps for the better.

Onlive = BAD

I’d rather not to be forced to play games via steam because masses of marketing money says steam api is cheaper and better for games and consumers believe it.

Fixed

Peace

Onlive for PC doesn’t require a stupid controller so get your facts right first before posting crap.

(BioSnark) #145

and you should read the crap your talking crap about before posting crap

(DoubleDigit) #146

This not does make sense any.

(BioSnark) #147

Okay…? let me try that again :frowning:

If he was saying what you’re saying he’s saying then you’d have a point but he is saying something other than what your saying he’s saying. Right?

You should reread Sockdog’s post and you’ll understand but I’ll spell it out. He isn’t claiming that a PC version of Onlive or a similar streaming system would require a console controller. He’s asserting that, due to the control limitations imposed by input delay, game control schemes and mechanics would need to compensate in a similar fashion to what was necessary with console controllers.

(LyndonL) #148

… or even simpler… boycott and avoid the whole stupid idea altogether!!

It’s a great idea in theory, but in practice… I highly doubt it.

Those who know to steer clear are in the minority. If they manage to launch it without going bust it’ll quality issues will be the last thing on consumer’s minds.

Actually if they show any signs of success I’ll be stunned if they’re not immediately bought out by one of the big internet/content providers. Onlive just smacks of a $19.99 add-on to a TV or internet package.

Perhaps ever further off topic but I do wonder with Google TV if we won’t see a Google Games box out soon. Short of a hardware bump they pretty much have everything they need to do it now. With it being open, having access to all of Googles other properties and an established marketplace I’d see this as having a shot at the same casual gaming market as the Wii.

(BioSnark) #151

I do understand. I was restating Sockdog’s perspective.

I like new technologies like streaming (onlive) or motion tracking (natal). I just want good gaming mechanics survive and not a bunch of smoke and gimmicks like what dominates Wiiware. And if it does turn out to be junk, I’d hope it doesn’t cannibalize the rest of the industry.

Regarding your original necro post, I can’t know the inner-workings of the minds behind Blizzard’s decision on LAN but it’s certainly possible that they had multiple reasons to want to remove LAN support.

(DoubleDigit) #152

Whatever, the idea was how Blizzard sees the whole pirating thing and me agreeing with them.
