Any decent clans?

I gave up in 1998 until recently a clan seemed interesting, that was until I caught one of their members blaming the people of Israel in his flaming insults to the player that killed him, every time he got his ass handed to him.

I lurk around, but find the following faults of clans:

What I mentioned above.
They only play 1-2 games.
Arrogance
If you lose interest in one of their games they don’t want you around anymore.
They disband because of bickering.
Think they are god’s gift to gaming.
They treat other players like shit.
etc etc etc

I find Clans have the following attributes:-

  1. They only play 1 game (usually) allowing them to focus on that game and take it to levels the average pubber can only dream of.

  2. A complete lack of arrogance born of the knowledge that there are always players significantly better than them, unlike the pubber who thinks he’s a good player simply because he can get 1000000 XP on “noobs-r-us” 10-map extreme.

  3. A willingness to find a role for members past and present who are unable to play anymore (I was in a Clan for 9 months without ever playing for them).

  4. A recognition that differences of opinion can and do happen, that not everyone knows all the answers, and that sometimes each individuals best interests are sometimes best served elsewhere.

  5. See 2).

  6. Show great respect to other players in other Clans, with often a great sense of community developing within a particular Clan scene.

Obviously there are “kiddie” Clans around who fit your description, but there aren’t many. From my experience of dealing with Clans as a member, as a player and as an organisor of competitions, I’d say the vast majority of Clan are made up of mature, respectful, dedicated gamers.

reading point 6 there surprises me kendle since you too read the et clan section of rtcw.co.uk, lol.

and rift you can’t blame one retarded personand his imature rantings for “clans being shite” also it depends on the level of seriousness that a clan is at on their limit of how many matches and praccys a member can miss fun clans generally don’t care but if they are in leagues etc your just a waste of a member slot who doesn’t do anything

The Clan forum on www.rtcw.co.uk is rather different to how these people behave in IRC and on server. Some of the more idiotic posters on the forum are actually decent people when you speak to them 1-on-1 in IRC. Why people feel the need to project a forum persona that’s not who they really are has always baffled me tbh. I’m not clever enough to pretend to be someone I’m not, personally.

i think its better like that tbh i thinks its good to spend however long in one clan playing a game then when i have had enough of that game i leave the clan and join another that plays the new game i do and meet a whole new bunch of ppl and starting playing along side them
like not so long ago i left my mohaa clan to join a clan in et and every now and then i go back and play with the guys who r still in the mohaa clan just for a laugh.

i like clans who give a shit about their members and want fun and can have a laff, if any clan starts biching about something, ill try to settle it, if i fail i start screaming and taking control of the clan, failing that i walk, also if i sense a clan dosnt like me for 1 second i walk, i like atmosphere, just the feeling, also FUN, lots of FUN, jokes ect…

I dont care what games they play, as long as i have it :clap:

no1 is perfect, everyone is good at something, i hate any1 who is good at the game and brags, its even more annoying when they arnt good at all and still brag, shove a few bullets up their ass and they make up lame excusses and leave

i never treat other players like shit unless they treat me like shit first, i try to stop arguments

if i lose interest in the game i probably play the other games they have or just leave, if they dont want me around > they dont like me > see above ^

Well, I’ve been in a clan since I’ve started… One clan that is… We’ve always gotten along great though we’re not competing in ET right now. At the moment we just play for fun etc…

I’ve been in one other clan than mine officially since RtCW first came out, though I’ve “joined” a few others to help em out in leagues and stuff… mainly 502nd, WJ and team RES and mine got together for the ND80 tourny. Problem with us is… we’re mostly all old bitter men. ranging from early 20’s to late 40’s. Nobody under 18 allowed in. We just pub a lot, joke with each other etc. Though if you’re looking for hardcore competition clans that don’t bicker, or think they’re gods gift to gaming… I have no suggestions =/ I don’t even know what I’ve been talking about, heheh.
