Anticheat working?

(Yackamov) #1

Have the hackers died down yet? I haven’t played in a while as it got really bad after the new anti-cheat was implemented. Was hoping things would get better in a month or two. The reporting system didn’t really seem to work either. I reported a guy that was cheated, provided the video, provided the steam ID, provided another steam ID the same guy owns that’s linked to the one he’s playing Dirty Bomb on that has a VAC ban. His steam ID shows that he’s a member of a group dedicated to cheating. A month later and no action. I was hoping the new focus on anti-cheating would mean things were taken more seriously.

Hoping that things have changed, as the game is fun and I’d like to come back. What are your experiences with it now?

Still hackers. Not as bad in pubs as it used to be but they’re still at a way beyond acceptable level.

Cheating, afaik, has certainly toned down a bit. In game reporting has also been implemented, so there is that as well now.

My 100% anecdotal and not representative of everyone else’s viewpoint is that I’ve not seen any cheaters in a few weeks. I tend to stick to pubs, pugs and scrims though.

I saw a few cheaters when the new anti-cheat was implemented.
However, after a few days it stopped.
I’m not sure what caused that they all disappeared, but they are gone.
While I’m playing mostly public, I did have a few competitive matches - no cheaters.

This may differ and it could be that you encounter one or two, but my experience was clean so far.

Give it a go.

Hello. Didn’t see any cheaters yet… But i don’t play that much now.

(Fiktio) #7

People used to complain that competitive matches are full of cheaters.
After the new AC came, I haven’t noticed any cheaters in comp matches.

In general I haven’t noticed any cheaters after the update of new AC, if not counting one suspicious player in public server I wasn’t sure about.
But one possible cheater in many weeks definitely is not much.

came across 1 in 2 days of playing. Thrice, in pubs, reported him once yesterday.

(Sinee) #9

I can echo this. Have only seen one for sure hacker since NGS rolled out. I play pub almost exclusively, though.

(Frogteam) #10

I haven’t much time to play lately, but I haven’t seen any recently. +1 for Anecdotal reports supporting new AC.

(Yackamov) #11

May be anecdotal, but if it’s the same experience that enough people have, it’s a good sign.

(MarsRover) #12

I’ve only seen 1 blatant hacker since NGS.

I was gonna remark that top reviews on the steam page are still in the tone of “hacker central”, but actually it’s not the case! All five reviews are positive. Nice!

(Sussepus) #13

also only seen one blatant hacker since NGS.
Ended up with 4 guys on his team following him around recording his every move.

(asparagusMist) #14

not been too bad last week. mainly stopped playing comp though so that maybe why. dont whether its cause hacks been caught or just not so many been playing.

(Lumi) #15

Obvious hackers have left the game since NGS, but there are still the occasional weirdos that manage to consistently throw grenades at you without even having seen you once since you spawned. So even though I haven’t seen any aimbot, wallhacks seem to be still a possibility. Especially since they’re harder to detect and to accuse 100%.

Finally, you get still quite a few high level players with private steam profile. I know it doesn’t mean anything, but to me it just seems like people concealing the amount of hours they actually have on the game or the fact that DB might be their only game. I don’t need to explain why certain information might be incriminating on some level.

Anyway, since the xingpoop death you’ll have much less actual hackers and much more actual good players who’ll kick your ass. So either way they’re still a lot of really good aim going around. The only difference is that now it’s legit.

(D'@athi) #16

Some small-degree-aimbotters, more of the espers though. Still the obvious ones mostly left, since there’s probably no undetected public hack, for now, and people paying for it probably got a but more cautious.

(Merci1ess) #17

Only had one hacker that made it obvious. Besides that… maybe a couple suspicious ones but nothing major. So far, it’s proving me wrong. I was skeptical about the anti-cheat but so far it’s doing it’s job. Although I cannot speak for competitive matches since I don’t do much of those.

(uWotm8-AU) #18

Just finished a game against an insta kill ‘hacker’.

They’re still out there, but most have probably just moved onto another game that has more people to troll.

(Sorotia) #19

I’ve seen a few questionable ones…but they may have just been really good…only two I really truly questioned because this one Sniper was literally get nothing but head shots…“shrugs” other I looked up and he had a VAC ban.

I do wonder how people get so good some times…I can’t seem to improve at all lol.

Easy, play FPS games for 20 years and it blends into your blood and genes or some shit.
