Anti-Friend Having Game?

(novelJoke) #1

Perhaps one of the issues why Dirty Bomb is not that popular is because outside of competitive you make it very hard to actually group with friends?

(FilterDecay) #2

unfortunately we had clan staking in pub objective matches.

Being able to group with friends in public servers is coming pretty soon (possibly the next update). It’s an often requested feature.

that would probably be game breaking.

What. Just what. Party system is like one of the most basic of all FPS feature. most other FPS has one, I don’t see how it’s gamebreaking

(novelJoke) #6

It’s amazing how one post can show who has friends and who doesn’t lol.

(Telzen) #7

Considering that not being able to group up is a newish feature I don’t think thats it. Especially since everyone was complaining about team balance and when that went into effect teams got a lot more even.

It’s amazing how one post can show who thinks a complex subject can be reduced to one dimension.

(DMaster2) #9

Join an obj casual as a party against a group of single players, stomp them with possible spawnkilling, profit. That’s pretty much how it worked before the rebalance.

Thats fine but you will end up with clans stacking teams and pushing pubs away. Its all fun in cod because its a scrub tier fps. This game is COMPETITIVE with players of very high skill levels that have honed those skills over rtcw>et:wolf and on. When you get clans with clan tactics on public servers you get massive distortions in gameplay. I played rtcw in cal. We played 40 hours a week as a team. To mix those teams into pub servers with no scramble is a bad design idea.

As if clans stomping competitive wasn’t enough.

If I want to play with friends, we just join the same server. It’s not hard. All this feature will do is allow pubstomping.

(murkyBarber) #13

sometimes grouping can be bad too

(MalixDenied) #14

I dont know about you guys but i love stomping on my friend when we get split up its funneh ;3

Nice

For those commenting that group play is bad, hopefully the matchmaking will try to pair group queues with group queues such as most MOBAs. Even if not, this is a multiplayer game, I like to play those with friends, I like to be on the same team as them. If none of that was possible or a pain in the ass to do, why wouldn’t I just go play a singleplayer game?

(FilterDecay) #16

You can play competitive together.

(MarsRover) #17

There is no matchmaking in pubs. There is matchmaking in competitive where you already can join as a group.

For normal players its just as fun to play against each other as with playing together. If u allow “friends stacking” on publics, there will be only clan stomps, which will destroy the game even more.

If u want to stack with friends, play competitive. OFC you have to fix competitive (no shits like 4v6 teams, players disappear from lobby etc.). But publics are just fine as it they are now, if you change it, you will loose more players again than gain.

The pub stomping from teams is happening right now. There is no surveillance or management of player’s and their origin. You can have two duos of friends or two trios in one team versus all singles. There is no management of that.

Adding a system based party system will solve a few issues:

  1. People will stop using server browser in order to join with their friends. Quick join in parties will be possible. This will reduce server problems due to too many server info requests from refreshing the server browser.

  2. Team stomping can be kept in check by matching groups against each other akin to the competitive mode.

It would bring more good than bad if you ask me.

Also a very good idea would be, to promote the game with popular streamers. For example summit1g (or some other that is popular and plays fps games). Lets say u pay him some money to play the game some hours/week or so. You can find more streamers to do this, i think the game would start to grow again.
