Anti-Friend Having Game?
i have a thought for the socialism problem. how about they enable a option like “add friend” when you right click on the person’s name at the lobby while waiting for the game??

In theory yes, but in reality you can already see the game is loosing its playerbase and it will fail.

Thats fine but you will end up with clans stacking teams and pushing pubs away. Its all fun in cod because its a scrub tier fps. This game is COMPETITIVE with players of very high skill levels that have honed those skills over rtcw>et:wolf and on. When you get clans with clan tactics on public servers you get massive distortions in gameplay. I played rtcw in cal. We played 40 hours a week as a team. To mix those teams into pub servers with no scramble is a bad design idea.
The pub stomping from teams is happening right now. There is no surveillance or management of player’s and their origin. You can have two duos of friends or two trios in one team versus all singles. There is no management of that.
Adding a system based party system will solve a few issues:
-
People will stop using server browser in order to join with their friends. Quick join in parties will be possible. This will reduce server problems due to too many server info requests from refreshing the server browser.
-
Team stomping can be kept in check by matching groups against each other akin to the competitive mode.
It would bring more good than bad if you ask me.
They can join the server they just cant pick their sides. Thats the point of the new lobby. It does a scramble before the game starts. Im all for friends playing on the same server.
Welcome to Dirty Bomb, where people don’t know what public servers are and as a result don’t want people to play with friends.
Its a pain not being able to group with friends, although it was fun to 1v1 on trainyard with my friend (since no one joined that server until the last moments) was difficult to carry the last objective and keep him down xD.
Funny how people say that it’s a common feature to party up in most fps games, it’s also common in fps games that a lobby goes dead when a party joins.
Seriously not getting how partying in a public match or in a competitive match is any different except for you being stomped instead of you stomping new players.

The problem is that, right now, parties are being formed, manually, but still they’re formed. Actually implementing a party system allows the devs to regulate parties and balance them. IF it’s implemented right.
I would like to see the option to invite friends to a public server you are in.
Being able to group with friends in public servers is coming pretty soon (possibly the next update). It’s an often requested feature.
Welcome to every single shooter in existence
They have no party servers, if that’s really an issue. But again, IT’S A DAMN PUB.
It’s meant to be a casual environment you can have fun with friends, that’s what they are made for. If you have an issue with that then play competitive, and I get that’s the answer you don’t want, but it’s very clear you take the game seriously, in the WRONG place.

- The majority of people play pubs
- Playing in unbalanced games isn’t fun
- People quit playing and the game dies
Don’t get why you can’t understand this. If you want this game to stick around and have a player base then we have to keep the matches balanced.

competitive is already borked from clans stomping pubs. If you dont think that will happen on pubs/objective/stopwatch you are mistaken.
This is a game. Games should be played on equal grounds for all parties involved. I would say if you want to play wiht your friends you can go take competitve games. They need more clans playing anyhow.

Because you don’t seem to grasp that when people can’t play with their friends it’s not fun for them. It’s impasse
You want balanced pubs, alright, but that’s going to destroy what little chance this game has of bringing in new players.
Perfect example, Counter Strike, how many people do you think were brought into that game because a friend played it?
Answer: THOUSANDS

It’s happening regardless anyhow, because here’s the simple truth, you can’t expect the illusion of a balanced game to make the game fun. People have to actually put in their effort and work together, which the majority of people DON’T.
So, the problem isn’t pubs are unbalanced.
The problem is we have terrible means of educating players, and a competitive mode that needs a lot of work to make it a viable option worth playing.
you cant compare 6 or 8 pub players who work together with a clan who plays the maps and tactics like a job.
You cant make that statement as if its a fact when its just wrong. Whats wrong with having your friends join the same server and then sometimes you are on the same team and sometimes you arent? This is pub pick up play.
but it doesnt matter @MissMurder already said you would have the ability to group up with “friends” and play objective pub matches. So you are getting your way.

Because explain to me what is the difference between a clan of, let’s just say 4 people playing on a single team, vs them playing each other. They’ll do ALL the work and the other people on their team are basically fodder, they still have MORE dedication than everyone else on the server, and again, THAT is the problem.
Heaven forbid they use team tactics in a team game.
But let’s look at the argument in a different way, complete randoms, so you’re telling me that 1 Godlike player matched with mostly baddies vs competent people is a balanced game???
NO, it isn’t.
This why this whole idea of pub balance is ridiculous, at some point SOMEONE isn’t having fun. So let’s just throw that out the window and ask the real question. Why are those players bad? Why aren’t they as educated about the game as the other team? Is it playtime? Possibly. Is it a difference in raw DM? Yes, likely. Is it all possible, that not everything in the game is clearly explained to the players? Yes, absolutely, because the only mercs they are introduced to, if they even bother to play the tutorial, are Skyhammer and Aura.
Nothing is explained about Engineers, nothing is explained about Vasilli and his motion sensor, arguably one of the most useful aspects about him right now, and nothing is explained about Assault, you can only assume they’re about being tanky and having big guns.
Face it, no amount of balancing algorithm is going to fix a distinct lack of information regarding how to play this game. And for a multiplayer only title that is inexcusable, THAT is where their focus should be for the next update, and I seriously hope it happens soon.
well you will get your way so we will see wont we?
Giving players information about the different classes doesnt mean they have good hand eye coordination or know that can put a airstrike at just that spot. Or spam grenades just at the right time to deny a side entry. Or have a script that tells your teammates the exact spawn times of the enemy after you figure it out. Or know when to K yourself to reset with your team. Or know that all you have to do is cover that one doorway. Or know where your exact placement will be for defense. Or know when someone calls the place of attack how you form up for that how you have done it with these people hundreds of times before.
Scrims and competitive (real comp) play are wonderfully fun. Its great to be apart of the team and work as a well oiled machine. But those tactics on pubs will break things.

Good team work doesn’t break a pub, but the absence of it as a response does.
It’s the exact same thing when you play Counter Strike in casual, and you have the guy who buys AWP everytime. And then everyone bitches but the one guy who knows how to throw a smoke and pop the guy before he can get his shot off.
Saying the game breaks because of good team work is kind of a stupid thing honestly, cause it means is the enemy team isn’t doing enough. And increasing the player count doesn’t work because it just causes more problems than it solves.
That said, I feel like what would REALLY help, is more maps like Dome. Huge maps with a lot of room to move around, spreads things out in those 8v8 servers so fights are often in small numbers rather a couple trickling in at a time to whole defender’s team on something like Chapel or Underground.
all of those things I mentioned go beyond pub server tactics. People dont have a hive mind. It takes a lot of work to get it to that point.
