Another sniping thread

([GORE]Hallelujah) #1

Well … erm … sorry for flooding, but I intend to talk facts here, not just
“I like it more when …”

After hours of playing and dozens of hours of testing various weapons I must say (with authority), that

  1. Garand/K43 are really good sniping rifles. I almost never played sinper in RtCW, but here I managed to score 29 kills/1 death (!) with Garand on the Splash Damage ET Test server an hour ago. So, - sniping is affordable and decent here. The 80 (K43) to 100 (Garand) HP headshot damage really pays.

  2. Something must definitely be done with the sniping capacity of FG42. It’s a brute force close combat assault weapon. The only nice thing about it - high fire rate (which is recompensed by a miserable 20-bullet clip). But … it TOTALLY suxxxx in sniping. It’s spread is completely inadmissible. Especially from the long range … And along with that it gives only 30 HP headshot damage??? SD, pleeez, why not do it 20 or 25 but make it as precise as Garand/K43 … ?

And, just in case, take a look at this FG42 spread screenshots:

I disagree. In fact, the higher your level is, the better a sniper rifle the FG42 becomes. You just have to know to fire one or two round bursts. It’s not as good as the garand (nor should it be) but it’s a good compromise between an assault rifle and a sniper rifle. In close range it’s really powerful, especially if your light weapons skill is up. And long range it’s maybe 75% as effective as the normal sniper rifle.

Again, that’s assuming your skills are up. As with most things in the game, you’re not going to be that good at them until your skills are up to at least level 1. With Breath Control, the FG42 is VERY effective.
