Analysis of the First gameplay video [SPOILERS]

(Aerie) #61

Does anyone know whether the vehicles be like W:ET (escort only) or like ETQW (driveable)?

(GENETX) #62

Watch the first seconds of the trailer  “OK! EV is online. Now escort it to the objective”. So I would put my money on escort like W:ET.

(Antharax) #63

1:04-1:08: Sniper hit someone in chest, instant kill. Not sure if he was shot before. Sniper then proceeds to hit someone in the leg, not a kill. So we can confirm it’s not a 1HKO on all parts like some other F2P “tactical team based action war battle face” games.

Edit: 2:01 Defib takes one second to revive. Not instant.

(wolfnemesis75) #64

Wow! Great breakdown of the elements. Like the barricades as obstacles. It looks like the bot being escorted has its own weapon system?

(Dysfunkshion) #65

Yes, it’s a mounted MG. My guess is that it functions similarly to the MG on the tank in W:ET.

(wolfnemesis75) #66

That’s cool. It adds an extra layer of firepower as you’re escorting the EV.

(GENETX) #67

Did you play ET? The big drawback is that you are positioned at a fixed point, making it very easy to be shot from that position. Usually it is better to just find cover behind the EV and escort it… :stuck_out_tongue:

(Dysfunkshion) #68

It was an effective weapon if you used it in bursts or certain chokepoints. You’re right though when you’re saying that it’s easy to get killed in that fixed position.

(Ruben0s) #69

I wonder why the timer on top of the blue bar changes from position.

Maybe it’s an indication that they play stopwatch mode, and that it shows at what point the enemy team was at that time. For example, if the timer is behind the blue bar, it means that they have a faster time than the enemy team. If the timer is in the white area, the enemy team was further ingame at that time.

Hmm. I guess it’s just a normal indication to show where your team should be at that time.

(GENETX) #70

I think neither. I see it just as a timeline from 20 mins to go down to time is up. The timer indication seems to go down just linearly, which sure would not be the case if it would indicate where the opponent was at that time with stopwatch. At least, I don’t expect the opponent to escort the EV perfectly linearly all the time :stuck_out_tongue: Furthermore, other maps might not have an EV and thus no EV progress bar. So it is just a way for the EV to reuse this bar as progressbar. The documents that have to be obtained are also not mentioned at the bar as well.

Or, at least in this demo it is just a plain timeline and has nothing to do with the EV being escorted. It might still be implemented (or not yet, but on the todo list). But I wouldn’t expect anything from it.

(jazevec) #71

Speaking of vehicles in ET:QW, I think they biggest blunder they made was allowing the driver to shoot very well. Weapons should be restricted to the gunner player, as this would require 2+ players for a vehicle to be effective. Vehicles in ET:QW are stupidly powerful for rambo players, and no amount of teamwork can handle them because if a single player can distract 2 other players, he’s already doing his job well. Especially if said players switch to rocket/obliterator making them near useless against everyone else.

(phoen1x) #72

And especially anansi is so op. I wonder why SD decided to give it bigger range than tormentor plus air break? Oh well.

(jazevec) #73

As for flyers, I always found Sniper Rifle to be best against them. Not rockets. A competent pilot will get away in time, but it forces them to land and repair. But Sniper Rifle deals 50% more damage to vehicles than Railgun, so I can see how Anansi is unfun to deal with.

Tormentor was supposed to have unique hover ability.

Just a note on iron-sights.

There are 2 instances of iron-sighting a couple of seconds apart starting at 1:54. It appears to take no more than 3 frames to fully scope. Assuming the video is recorded at 30 frames per second that’s 1/10th of a second. Assuming you scope by holding down a key (as opposed to press to scope, press again to un-scope), you can scope, fire, un-scope in a fraction of a second, pretty much as fast as you could wish. Although it doesn’t specifically show it, I’d guess you can probably also scope on the move (it could just be my eyes playing tricks but I think there are a couple of instance of other players appearing to change stance on the move without stopping).

The question of course is what benefit is offered by scoping, and what penalty is suffered, if any, from not scoping. Typically scoping gives greater accuracy, meaning hip-firing is inherently less accurate as a result. However I wonder to what degree? It could be that hip-firing is as accurate as ET (which isn’t 100% accurate) and scoped is just a percentage point or 2 more accurate, i.e. not enough for even the most anti-IS person to get their panties in a twist

(Reddeadcap) #75

I honestly hope that Ironsighting is only useful for farther enemies and is very accurate, along with the need to deal with some recoil and that hip firing spread isnt insanely large forcing you to only use it at point blank range.

Maybe this is slightly off topic, but Blacklight: Retribution is overhauling their weapons system, so that guns will have a fixed spread and more predictable recoil patterns. The spread looks tight enough in the trailer, maybe they’ll be doing something similar?

(Rex) #77

Looks like you know the game pretty well.

(nomutilisateur) #78

I realy hope this game wont become a pay to win or a game full of hackers as every f2p until now.

i seriously advice dev to secure their game as hell against hack ! (make a first person spectator view to recognize wall hackers, make every host of the server calcule bullets trajectory and tally with all informations to avoid bullet-dodge hacks, and also, make spread calculated by server and not hosts !!)

and also : please dont make buyable weapons powerfuller than free weapons, but rather buyable content that add something to the game-play (a weapon with less damages but better accuracy … but not more powerfull in the absolute)

sorry for my bad englich.

by the way, someone talked about blacklight retribution, it is a game full of hackers. at least 25% of hacker per game. I dont play to it any more for this reason, and i strongly advice you to not to play to this game.
It is only frustrating. Even when reported, they dont ban hackers if they buy things in-game …

PS : i like game where you have to scope to have a good accuracy : you have to make a choice between firing at the ennemy with low acuracy or taking a litle bit more time to scope and the risk to not to see anything if the enemy is too close, but having les spread and recoil.
So, I created a map from several gameplay screenshots, with some image enhancements. So that makes the empty map:

With objectives located and the EV route:

And possible spawnpoints:

Especially the last part is good to watch. The axis (red dots on the map during the video) seem to come from a second spawnpoint, if the old axis spawn is used as well. What do you think? And then there is a large whitespace on the rightbottom. That could be the first 2 mins of gameplay perhaps. There are some entry routes to it so there must be something in that area I guess.
This map looks like Goldrush. I can dig it…

(Dysfunkshion) #80

Yes, that’s exactly what we thought as well. We discussed it somewhere in this thread. ^^
