Linsolv’s analysisof one PAX East video in particular, reveals a few interesting tidbits of info on this build of Brink.
Analysis of one good PAX East video reveals interesting info
So are you site-whoring? I clinked the link and was taken to another Brink forum, and the topic in there didn’t include the video it was analyzing.
Uh, okay.
I take it you did not read the article then.
“I’m looking into ways to bring this video to you guys so that it’s not on YT—that seems like an easy way to get it taken down really fast. Ideally, I’ll get it on Photobucket today or tomorrow.” - Linsolv
I did read the article, and it doesn’t have the video in it. Why post an analysis without the object of the analysis?
Following that logic, why should any of us discuss any aspect of Brink? We don’t have the object (Brink) we’re discussing. But, we will. And so we will also be able to view the posted video in the time frame Linsolv mentioned.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by and reading it (sans video and all).
So he didn’t notice the Medium bodytype guy carrying a minigun, i.e. a heavy weapon? Am I the only one who saw that?
Yes, he only stated obvious/previously seen/useless things. Xp, care. Turret, we know. Bullets to kill, we’ve seen other vids and it might also change. Also depends highly on weapon/bodytype etc.
All I know/all I believe, is that the header for that site has had Flood in my head ALL DAY.
[QUOTE=JeP;269122]Just in case, is obviously analyzing this PAX video :
i hope it will be possible to turn off all that noise from the screen. health bar, characters glow and so on…
Why get hostile towards the dude with some other brink site?
Though Vaporman it would be good to format stuff so that it can be posted on this board and people can choose for themselves if they would like to join your forum.
Sorry, guys. It’s a 100 MB file, and I only had about 30 minutes to try to upload when I was writing that. It looks like the original video I saw is still up on YouTube, which I thought it wouldn’t be. I’ve embedded that video in the OP of the article now. Hopefully I can get it to another, separate host in case that one goes down due to copyright claim
For those of you who don’t want to click over there again just to watch in a dinky little window: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDz8bC3Ljk8
No, I noticed. I assumed that there was something that cause it to make sense at a later date. Could be a universal ability, or something like that. Honestly, it was so early in the game, at the time it happened I wasn’t doing nearly the play-by-play I started halfway through. :\ It’s bad form and it left out something weird, but I assume it’ll work itself out.
EDIT 2: It’s not like you guys have to join the forum, last I checked. I tend to get over 100 views pretty consistently when Vaporman decides it’s worth linking, and we get maybe one new member a week.
did anybody notice how many lights there were in that video?! i hope its not like that in the full release because it looked like there whole team was a bunch of speedsters with smgs.
Truth in advertising. Hopeful light-users make up over half the population of the Brink fanbase from every poll
What the rundown of the map seems to be:
Resistance attacking.
Must get to a panel an open it - looks like any class can do, as a medic completes it? (unfortunately the anim doesn’t make it clear he’s actually doing anything).
Soldier must plant he charge on panel. I guess once this goes off it opens that massive door.
Then must get to wardens office and open safe - an operative hack.
Must take keycode to someplace (possibly prison cell door) - like docrun in ET games (any class carry)
(shown on other pax vids) must escort prisoner to somewhere - medics need to heal/revive npc if defenders disable him.
The panel was opened by an Engineer. I don’t know if that is a class-specific action or not, but it wasn’t a medic.
The player staning right in front of it had medic symbol on crosshair info.
The player looking at the playing doing it was also a medic, it showed ‘open panel’ on his hud.
A few things to consider on the XP:
XP for health boost may be dependent on how much health you boosted. Heal a guy with more damage, get more XP. In fact, in ETQW you only got XP for healing damage caused by enemy fire, no health for healing damage from friendly fire (prevents statpaddes from teaming up).
XP for kills isn’t, it’s XP for damage (unless you get a bonus for actually taking the guy down, which I seriously doubt). Helps keep the kiddies from yelling “steal killer!”
XP for damage is supposedly based on what the guy was doing when you damaged him. Coming out of spawn, not so much, doing the objective or guarding the guy doing the objective, supposedly a lot more.
Side note: did you see how many guys were gibbing downed guys? Seems like they figured out quickly how important it is to gib, I think it’s pretty obvious you need to - or maybe they were getting XP for it and that’s why the were doing it
