Ammo Pack (Refill Gernade)

(Seanza) #41

I would like to be able to replenish grenades, but not immediately. It needs to be done to the point where you can’t re-stock if you’ve thrown your last one less than X amount of seconds. This would prevent nade spam… a HORRIBLE experience for anybody. Good ol’ days of medics camping on crates in vanilla ET:QW and just nade blocking entrances and path ways. No ta’.

(Domipheus) #42

(Command posts ftw)

Grenade refill on a timre sounds good. Preferably a long timer like the field ops’ airstrike marker (seems like about a minute). That way you would get extra grenades by staying alive, but spam would be prevented because you could not feed a player with them.

(Mustang) #44

A 2min or so timer sounds like a fair solution to me.

(DarkangelUK) #45

Do you expect to be alive for 2 mins to get another grenade?

(stealth6) #46

I think 1 minute is already quite a long time, since the spawn time is 15 seconds.

(tokamak) #47

I’m not a fan of automatic refill. People will feel obliged to regularly use the grenades to get the most out of that.

Regaining grenades should take effort.

(Violator) #48

Hows about a (destroyable by enemy) grenade crate with a small amount (say 6, would need tweaking) grenades, only droppable on a timer every 2 mins or so by field ops (again tweaking needed), similar to the medic crate in ET:QW but not so spam-worthy :). Could also limit the rate at which the grenades could be obtained from said crate.

(tokamak) #49

Yeah I’m thinking more in that line.

(DarkangelUK) #50

You mean like the universal ammo/health posts that were in ET? If used up you had to wait until they replenished which was at a reasonable pace.

(tokamak) #51

I think there need to be more supply stations anyway but in this case it should be something that is deployable by a field ops, he then sacrifices his ability to supply ammo.

(Domipheus) #52

I’ll say again, that we are all crying out for w:et style command posts. you may not realise it, but you are :stuck_out_tongue:

(DarkangelUK) #53

Supply stations and command posts were 2 different things :stuck_out_tongue:

(Domipheus) #54

Gimme em both!!

(tokamak) #55

And combine them both. Capture a command post and in a nearby room there should be supplies (not right next to each other because that leads to gameplay issues)

(EnderWiggin.DA.) #56

Oh, I was referring to the FOPS doing something more than airstrikes.

(EnderWiggin.DA.) #57

IMO, team based games should rely on the team and human players. Not dispensing stations. I think it makes for a better team game and adds to the meta game by requiring resource management.
Less spam is better.

The argument of that falls down when you realise these are capturable command posts. It splits the teams, and opens more tactics and most certainly adds to the metagame. Either team can get them with a constructable and destroyable objective.

Spam occurs most when whole teams are concentrated on one area. The solution is to split the teams up, by giving them reasoning and a bonus for doing that and suceeding.

(tokamak) #59

Those command posts indeed take team effort to be liberated for your team. In ETQW those points were frequently bigger fights than the main objectives.

Even the neutral supply points in W:ET turned into very important points on the map which both teams fought over to control. That little square with supplies in Goldrush was constantly contested due to the very strong advantage it offered if one team could get the other out of it.
What about a refill grenade timer? Like after every 30-60 seconds if you live that long, you get rewarded with another grenade?

This could be applied to certain classes’ special grenades too. Why can the Engie keep pumping out unlimited turrets and mines or the support guy can keep dropping artillery after a time limit, but other classes have limited specialties (aka concussion grenades/motion sensors)?
I second this. FO giving out nades scares me.
