Ammo Pack (Refill Gernade)

(Evil-Doer) #1

I haven’t seen it be a topic yet.

Ever think of having your grenades refilled with ammo packs? I can see many positives an negatives, but which seems better?

(tokamak) #2

I think they should. But a field ops should not be able to gain grenades from his own ammo packs.

(DarkangelUK) #3

I think it should but you shouldn’t get them from the packs dropped from gibbing bodies.

(Thundermuffin) #4

I think there does need to be a way to get more grenades.

I’m actually thinking that maybe you should only get them from the ammo packs dropped by enemy players (that way you can’t bait teammates for grenades). I know this is the exact opposite of what most would think, but I don’t like the idea of having your own team hand out grenades, because the game then has the potential to just become who can throw the most grenades to clear areas. By making it so you only get them from the other team’s packs, you have to actually engage and kill them.

It also stops the whole fight, throw grenade, hide behind corner as a field ops gives you more, repeat cycle that I feel would happen. I know I would abuse the ability to get them back if we were able to have our own field ops give them to us.

(tokamak) #5

Perhaps a class specialisation where the field ops drops grenade cases instead of ammo.

On the grenade thing, am I just really an idiot or are these things incredibly difficult to use?

(EnderWiggin.DA.) #6

There are many, many times that I have wanted more grenades. However, I think I prefer the reduced grenade spam that we have now. I think it’s better for the game play and puts the focus on shooting. Except for the EV, pretty much everything can be effectively destroyed by gunfire and even the EV can be finished off by gunfire.

(Mustang) #7

Agree with Thundermuffin, that in the long run getting them from kills makes more sense than from fops.

Also it should be capped at the number you spawn with initially.

(tokamak) #8

True but I don’t like that there’s an hard limit on a player’s potential in one life. Ideally a player that miraculously manages to stay alive after twenty kills should still be as potent as when he just spawned. Health and ammo is refillable but grenades are not. I’m not saying it should be easy but there should be a way for careful players to keep getting back to 100% without having to respawn.

(Evil-Doer) #9

I agree on it DEFINITELY not refilling from gibbed or dead bodies, but really is viable for Field ops. When they hand out packs to give ammo an max your grenades back to where your class can be.

(INF3RN0) #10

I’d be more appreciative of a FOPS being able to increase your overall ammo capacity rather than refilling grenades.

(tokamak) #11

Right, but that’s a skill that is just in every single way better than what the basic class can do.

(SinDonor) #12

What about a refill grenade timer? Like after every 30-60 seconds if you live that long, you get rewarded with another grenade?

This could be applied to certain classes’ special grenades too. Why can the Engie keep pumping out unlimited turrets and mines or the support guy can keep dropping artillery after a time limit, but other classes have limited specialties (aka concussion grenades/motion sensors)?

(INF3RN0) #13

The only reason I ever see people play FOPS is to throw airstrikes. FOPS is pretty vital for someone like me because I always run out of ammo before I die. I recently started playing soldier and am liking it just for that reason. Of course that’s just a superficial advantage due to aim skill imbalances anyway.

(tokamak) #14

I play fops 2 because that MP5 is the only weapon that has iron-sights that actually allow me to see anything through them.

(Mustang) #15

I liked how Brink let you mix and match your favourite parts to make your ideal weapon.

(tokamak) #16

Well I can see how that clashes with the unique characters. I’m sure we’re going to see a silenced shotgun covert ops one day. Ironsights however, are not changing the statline of the gun so I think it’s fair game to make them modular.

(iwound) #17

i too would like some more grenades, free ones if possible.

(Apples) #18

I might be the only one, but more grenade is a no-no to me, grenades are spammy, you have one or two, use them wisely, more spam in the tight streets are not good IMO.

(tokamak) #19

That argument doesn’t work with the current ease at which you can respawn and get back into the fight. Why should careless players get to use more grenades than people who keep themselves alive?

(Apoc) #20

More grenades is not a good thing, game gets more spam my and any bottlenecks that were tactical cross fires become grenade spam alley. Where everyone dies and the last left standing is the one a grenade happened to not hit. I agree with inferno.
