Ammo for mobile machine gun

(Aspone) #1

Greetings

As a soldier, i have to complain about mobile machigun´s ammo. 150 rounds are not enough . higher lvl of heavy weapons should raise the mobile machine gun ammo.

If the fieldops is selfish or if you don´t have one at all and are too far away from ammo cabinet, a soldier qith mobile machine gun is almost useless

a soldier with mobile machine gun is useless

I think he meant a mobile MG42

The mg42 can be extremely effective on defense. There just aren’t very good positions on all maps.

thats not true, if you get a good team, youll have a medic and a field ops sitting behind the guy at all times, doesnt matter what map your on, these guys are like god with a mobile mg42! its very affective no matter what map your on.

IF there is a fieldops, well said. if there is no field ops willing to deliver ammo, the soldier does not have rounds enough to maintain a position…si higher lvl heavy weapon should have more rounds…

Two concepts at play here: 1. ET is a team game. 2. No class is perfect.

You might as well be asking why medics cannot give themselves ammo or FOs cannot heal themselves. The point is that no one class can do everything. You need a balanced and orchestrated team. The latter is more difficult to achieve in pub play on a regular basis. That is why people tend to find a server that has a set of ‘regulars’ that play there and work together. By working together and playing their roles, rather than rushing out as individuals, they can achieve/defend the objective well.

As to the particular suggestion that higher level MG42 soldiers get more ammo, I don’t think this is unreasonable. At least one extra belt would make sense at higher levels. Medics gain an extra magazine for their SMGs, don’t they? On the other hand, I would expect no changes of this sort, so its really an empty request. You might be better served aiming the request at the modding community (i.e. bani and shrub) who may be able to implement something of this sort.

i actaully agree… more ammo for MG… i mean…150…thats just a little more than what u can carry as medic…(120)…right?

If you are doing something valuable, like owning a chokepoint, defending the gold in Goldrush, or the guns in Oasis, Field ops will usually load you up. I love the mobile Mg42 on attack or defense. I usually find an ammo cab and load up before i try setting up a position. You pay for the extra firepower by being vulnerable to attack from behind or by PF. The fieldop/medic/Mg42 soldier combo is devastating, but I rarely see it put to full use. Even so, you can do a hell of a lot of damage with 150 rounds. Even at ten rounds per kill, that’s a lot of damage to the opposition, by which time you should move anyway, before you get PF’d.

I agree 150 rounds ain’t enough, but that’s only if you last long enough to get 150 off. I always try and shoot in short bursts and only when I’ve got a clean shot. The MG will eat ammo if you hold the trigger.

i like sneaking up to people with an mg42 whenever i play as one and just shooting them really close, its the only way to hit them and its scary as hell!

If you get surprised and have to get up from prone w/ the Mg42, you’re screwed. It’s ridiculously inaccurate at even point blank range. How is it possible to miss at 5’? That’ my only beef with this weapon.

(The_Jesus_Zeppelin) #16

they couldnt make it too accurate while standing up, id be horrabile to fight against.

i think they should intergrat mustard gas or fire bombs into et.

(Wraith2k3) #17

It’s ridiculously inaccurate at even point blank range.

I guess this simulates the weight of the weapon, along with the recoil and your lack of stability. Besides, the MG42 was never designed to be fired on the move, its primary use was for defensive emplacements.

(The_Jesus_Zeppelin) #18

the bullets should be hollow tiped, just for fun.

(Doodie) #19

great spot for an axis mg on gold rush defending the tank.
Head left at the tank and get in behind the market stall/wagon.
When prone - you can easily cover the doorway on the right side of the tank.

Forget accuracy when you’re standing – spray until you overheat! Mouse down to compensate for the ungodly recoil, and above all keep moving towards your target because they get knocked back quite a bit from the bullets (plus the horror at being blasted by a hugeass MG). Even if you land only 1 in 10 shots, given ~50 shots before overheating at Heavy Weapons < 2, that’s 5 * 18 = 90 points of ouch, which is enough to kill all but the healthiest targets. Of course, if they’re anything further than point-blank range from you, better hope you’re handy with a pistol…
