Are you sure this is the new one? I thought he said tomorrow? Either way Im downloading it, the screenshot doesnt show much.
Edit: I guess it is…
nvm. people on that forum say it works!
I wonder if these will give me the horrible Steam overlay lag issues I had with 11.5a drivers. I downgraded to 11.2 and that issue went away.
They are for sure legal, and by ATI.
edit: installing them as I speak now! gunna do a quick restart then try the game out!
How exactly do you know where your frame rate is supposed to be? Are you comparing it to another OpenGL game using the same engine, and making use of the same graphical features? You can’t really compare it to games using Direct3D. I’m not saying that if there’s an RC4 of the hotfix, or driver 11.6 might not improve performance further. I’m just saying there’s really not a good frame of reference to provide a good estimate of what your performance should be like.
They are fixed for my 5770. I can run high settings now, but I bet some more changes will help my FPS. Im like at a avg of 70. I bet it can go higher, thats with everything else off including r_shadows 0. Shadows at medium, textures at high.
I just tried these and didn’t really notice any difference. Still hovering in the 30-50fps range like I was before with the 11.2 drivers.
I did notice that I was getting more texture pop-in than before, and in a couple spots the textures never popped in.
Getting worse performance than 11.3. Also every new map the game minimizes and then crashes. Compared to 11.5a RC1 and RC2 these are better but so far these Brink “optimized” drivers sucks. Running 4870 X2.
In addition to seeing no noticeable performance gain over 11.2 I also notice that in the menus my fps goes from ~120fps to ~40fps when I enable the steam overlay. I haven’t tested in game yet but if the overlay cuts framerates by that amount in-game it’s going to be obnoxious every time I get an overlay pop-up and it will be back to 11.2 for me since there was no such issue with the overlay with 11.2
Uggh… I feared as much. Besides you and I, I haven’t heard anyone else mention the Steam overlay ‘bug’ with these newer drivers.
I have another post about it here:

Working great on my 5870, I can even use shadows now! Woohoo!
Steam overlay bug still exists though.
Thanks. Upgrading from RC1 to RC2 really improved my FPS although its still underperforming. Perhaps this one will push my card over the edge.
I wonder if they’ll work for mobility as well. All of the hotfixes would crash my computer or brink just would not load.
Update… got a chance to actually play Brink with the 11.5a Hotfix RC3 drivers and I no longer have an issue with FPS dropping when I get a steam pop-up (lower-right corner of screen)
However, I can see an obvious drop in FPS when I enable the Steam overlay.
ie: I was in-game playing solo Campaign and getting around 70-80fps
When I hit shift+Tab to bring up the Steam overlay, I saw it drop to around 20fps.
Yeah the overlay problem thankfully does not include the steam pop-ups I just noticed.
Also as an update to my earlier complaints of seeing no difference I went back and completely uninstalled the 11.2 drivers, then installed 11.5 clean and did this hotfix on top of them and I am now seeing about a 10fps increase from these new drivers.
Well, I can say that these work pretty well. My frame rates have increased dramatically. I haven’t played with them enough to really tell, but I just played one level and it was A LOT smoother. I don’t get HUGE drops in wide open areas. It still drops but I can finally play this silly game. I’m on a mobility 5730 1 gig fyi.
It’s a bit better but I mean I still can’t maintain 30fps and I feel like that should be the minimum with a config like mine (i should be getting much more)
