@ThunderZsolt easier to use, better at long range and cqc and more accurate plus higher dmg, hmmm lets see the m4 might have a bit of a faster reload?
Am i the only one who felt extremely dissapointed with the Season 2 update?
As I’ve said, M4 is easier to use IMO - that is personal preference, and totally subjective as such. This is why it is next to impossible to balace the weapons:
If one is statistically better, but harder to use, for players like You, who prefer it anyway, is always better.
You didn’t answer my question though: if burst weapons would have the exact same accuracy and (maximum) DPS as the M4, would you still use it instead of a full auto weapon?
Because you are implying that, by saying it is easier to use.

he didnt know about the february 2016 nerf
he still thinks BR are the top heh in this game
the nerf? lol you mean the stark not changing at all and the br just required people to adapt a bit, anyone that doesn’t know burst rifles are at the top of the game haven’t played ever since sd thought they needed buffs cause people lacked the skill to time their clicks or is just complete shit at the game and has never played anything but 8v8.
the mode is still shit … imho its not serious to allow ppl below lvl15. I’m playing all the time with ppl who dont know how to play the game.and i’m not talking about ranked mode … they dont know simple basics but they are now all over the ranked servers cause they want the new skins
oh yeah man i heard theres this gun that also just need to time their clicks and its one shot people
and the sidearm is a submachinegun spray and pray!
and you dont seem to be bothered to know that vasilli (literally all range merc) and fletcher is the toppest heh in the game but
“muh feelings are hurt the BR and Thunder are the top heh’s!”
every gun in the game only needs to time their clicks, Were not playing a simulator yknow
I have to laugh at quite a few of you. Bursts are better in more situations than the m4 but I won’t call them OP. Just that they are the better tool for the job you consistently find yourself in. The m4 is competitive but bursts are simply better due to the nature of DB’s mechanics. Bursts allow for both players with good tracking and flick to be effective where m4 is locked to tracking only. Bursts are better in consistent situations like sitting behind a door, strafing out and firing at somebody and potentially killing them than the m4. Bursts, by their nature, can quickly kill a player and in a game like DB where at the higher levels people start to flip out and mash their long jump bind as soon as they take damage, burst rifles tend to do more damage to them before they flip out and start mashing. M4 does more consistent poke damage over longer ranges but that’s not as good of a pro as bursts that can kill at medium/close range in one burst on a few mercs or put them so low that even if the second burst comes out and is wildly innacurate it only takes a bullet or two in the body to kill.
You can be quite good with the m4 and be consistent with killing. But in many situations you find yourself in with DB and the mechanics the game allows (like jump spamming…which no, i don’t want removed) then bursts can be a better pick for quite a few players.
So I agree that bursts are better. But it has less to do with the gun being “easy mode” (it’s not…especially when you start firing at long ranges at moving targets compared to the m4) and more to do with being a weapon that solves more situations that are overwhelmingly prevalent in a DB match.
And no, they weren’t more skill based in the past…that’s a freaking myth and I don’t know why people perpetuate it. Back before the change to bursts they had crazy high DPS but they also had crazy high rates of fire with a tiny tiny input window where if you clicked a bit too fast it ate your shot because the buffer for clicking was too short.
They were pretty inaccurate at medium and long ranges compared to post change and due to inputs being eaten (which were effected by your FPS too so input buffer time changed from moment to moment due to UE3 fps drop shenanigans for most players) the only way to consistently fire them was to use a rapid fire macro or something like a logitech scroll wheel. Which meant that you just sort of spray and prayed in CQC and quite effective in that scenario but not so effective almost anywhere else.
There is a reason why few smart players used them back then. They just weren’t as reliable or consistent at common ranges and they had the input buffer window issue that even the later revised burst rifles had multiple times. SD had to add in a longer buffer to account for frame drops and make the weapons more consistent when firing even after the change.
So there is a more analytical opinion based on actual scenarios as opposed to dumb hyperbole I’ve seen both “sides” use. Stop posting emotionally and start posting with some logic.
The weapons are close enough in power that the same person equally skilled using one or the other will do well regardless. But they might find themselves in a more advantageous position more often with bursts than an m4. And, personally, I’m fine with this. I don’t want to see an m4 only meta. I’d rather see m4’s slightly buffed and keep bursts the way they are so that there is a legit choice to be made between them.
@neverplayseriou So you disagree that people should not be analytical and actually know what they are talking about when it comes to discussing the power of weapons. And you also disagree that people should not suss out the areas where one weapon might be better than the other in some situations and assess the exact amount of scale better they are. Do you instead prefer to use broad generalizations? And do you also disagree that burst rifles worked exactly as I described? If so, why?
I do not like what is 100% overly biased emotional filled opinions taking the spotlight over genuine discussion. You can disagree with me. Just make sure you point out exactly why without going into hyperbole and explain situations/logic to the best of your knowledge and skill.

as i said before
“muh feelings were hurt so Burst rifle is OP”
I meant to edit @neverplayseriou but I accidentally deleted it (we should still have it and I’ll restore it later). But basiclaly it boiled down to flaming everyone who disagreed with him and not explaining a single reason behind his flames.
Make sure you guys are posting using logic and not flaming. And don’t resort to calling people trash or trying to act superior. That isn’t how this forum has ever worked and, at least while I’m here, it never will.
I like ranked so far… I just wish that there were US East and US West were separate. I’m on the East coast and if I pick for ranked to look in North America, it’s a total crap shoot.
