Alt-Tab

(Pixelated_FooL) #1

I looked around the forum, but couldn’t find anything on the issue of being able to temporarily leave the game for something.

I would really appreciate if there was some kind of an Alt-Tab functionality with ET. It really bugs me if I get an IM, I wont be able to check it. Plus, if I want to bring my friends to the server i’m currently playing in, i can do so by alt-tabbing out and telling them, instead of leaving the game and losing spot.

I hope others agree with me.

Alt+Tab only works if you’re in window’d mode.

If you’re in full screen, go Alt+enter to go into windowed mode, but it will also execute a vid restart when exiting or entering full screen mode

Thanks Ifurita,

This had been annoying me too

this works for me when I wanna check IRC while playing :

-press the ‘windows button’, so that the taskbar & startmenu (dont need the menu) appear
-double click on the MIRC icon in the system tray so that it appears in the taskbar
-right click on MIRC in the taskbar and choose ‘on top’

you can now switch back and forth between the two programs, by using the windows button to call out the taskbar, and clicking on either Wolf or MIRC

another fix that has worked for me is to play in windowed mode, but in a screen res the same as my desktop. I alt-tab out then drag the RTCW windows upwards slightly until the blue title bar is nearly off screen. Since i use a black desktop background, it doesn’t really show when the game is playing and I can alt-tab back and forth really easily

Thanks Ifurita. But i still think alt-tab is easier hehe

agreed, but i don’t think any of the games powered by id engines support alt+tab while in fullscreen

there are small programs that run in the background while you play sof2, that allow you to minimize a full screen game. perhaps there are ones for rctw too. try http://www.rtcwfiles.com

alt+enter to go into windowed mode
then alt+tab

Only problem with this is that it requires a map reload when switching modes
