Well Pie, as you can see I’m making progress on lighting. Taking my time to get everything perfect. These following shots are the inside of the palace that I plan for the tank to rubble around. Some shots are of a spawn area and an underwater system that leads outside the palace walls.
Percentage complete is hard to gauge, but I’d say 75%. Scripting is going to be fun :moo:

Why don’t you use coronas for the lightshine instead of those autsprite things in the lamps? =) would look better imho since outer parts of coronas are not occluded by walls etc.
well actually the ET engine doesn’t resize coronas… meaning although the lights on a runway for example appear smaller and smaller the farther they are the coronas will remain in size… wich makes them actually look growing with distance, as human eye would expect them to shrink, too. don’t know i it’s the reason, but it would be for me…
in addition, you cant simply turn off sprites as you can coronas… big one in the war against gfx-cheaters 
Well that too thore, but also that is what my favorite light/lamp model comes with… that sprite. 
Actually coronas do change size, just not as drastically as the model (which is quite realistic too). And like said, the simple autsprite thing disappears inside of walls, which makes it looks pretty bogus imho.
Well, if someone wants to take my favorite model lamp set and remove the sprite I’d probably use the coronas then. But, I dont know how nor have the time. hint hint http://fps.brainerd.net/downloads/models/others/bfp_gothlight.zip

haven’t i read somehting about shaders today?
there should be some option to define the “layer” the sprite is diplayed on…
set it to ‘nearest’ (or similar) and it should be shown as the foremost item
on screen. i mean there HAS to be anything to get those sprites working…
can’t imagine the original coronas are some weird product of black magic.

okay… lets say they resize… do they resize enough to look real? i dont
care about a cutted edge of a sprite… at least not as much as i do about
coronas at the far end of the map being that big making me think my virtual
nose is stuck to the lamp.
